Your 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival artist suggestion soap box...

Every year we have this thread (remember when we used to have it via email?). Every year I ask Tessa who she wants, and she always says, “Oh, whoever Craig books will be awesome…it’s all good”.

This year, for the first time, she had a very adamant request:

:sunshine Bring back SPEARHEAD! :concert

I have to admit, they NAILED it last time!

I suggested Cheech and Chong a few months ago…They were on thier “Make Legal Tour”. It would be so much fun to have them. :thumbsup

:wave A couple of bands on my radar right now:

Joy Kills Sorrow
The Beeeaters
Deadwood Revival
The Dixie Bee Liners

and… I just heard the Carolina Chocolate drops do some gospel a couple of weeks ago and would like to hear more!

How about Sunday morning with The Carolina Chocolate drops and John Cowan?

:peace

I’m thinking today a little Mike Farris on Sunday morning might just be crazy wonderful. I always want to see Hot Rize on that stage again (does that go without saying?) but I’m also loving the calls for Leon Russell and Michael Franti with Spearhead.

:cheers

I would have to say GREENSKY!!! they are so friggin hot right now!! they just gotsta be there!!!

Here are my choices

~~Greensky Bluegrass~~
Bonnie Raitt
Old Crow
Railroad Earth
Paul Simon (a girl can dream right?!?!) :flower
Franti/Spearhead
Chatham County Line
The Dovekins (they are friggin AWESOME!!! All must check out!!!)
LOS
And, String Cheese or any members from cheese, especially emmit-nersh or Kyle Hollingsworth

PS~ Since I saw another post with him, it reminded me to add Mark Knopfler to my list :thumbsup

:peace

~Laurie~

I’ll get behind Spearhead.

ALmost forgot to add Brett Dennen!! ok now my list is complete  :flower

Yes, please bring back Bonnie Raitt!

I forgot two of my unsung favorites… husband and wife, and lovely Virginianites, they are:

Paul Curreri and Devon Sproule

Together, perferrably.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot, so I’m just going to throw it out there; I think Matisyahu would make for an excellent curve-ball. He’d be great for a Saturday night closing set.

If I remember correctly, he doesn’t play Saturdays… religious reasons.

Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green

I do believe you are right. Well, I hesitate to say Friday night because I’m hoping for LoS to continue in that spot, but I’d be down for a Thursday night closing set.

Darrell Scott… love his new CD… :flower that voice, kind of haunting. :bat

Smokin Frank Solvian and Dirty Kitchen… They are rockin my world. I say book em Dano :thumbsup Dang… :medal

It’d be pretty pricey, but if we’re talking Leon Russell, why not bring Sir Elton John with him?

Pete Seeger.

(Now this might be more suited for Folks Fest, but I think we could all appreciate a great set from him up in the San Juans.)

Can I suggest A tweener? :eek

hello to all
I would like another British Invasion

Robert Plant and Band of Joy
Mark Knopfler

I did a little research in my memory banks and online and discovered a few things. The Jewish Sabbath is from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, so as long as his set was after the sun goes down Saturday night, he’d be okay with doing a Saturday set. It’s Friday nights that he doesn’t play (except for one in Anchorage, but that was because the sun didn’t set until 2:00 AM).

i think leon russell would be awesome, especially with elton john :cake
but to add, i have to say, for some awesome pure bluegrass…

bring back Blue Highway! :oconnor :pickin :band :headphones :budumdum :dance :cow
and the infamous stringdusters :woohoo
and what about acoustic syndicate? :cheers
:sunshine
