Your 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival artist suggestion soap box...

Hey everybody! :wave

Before these “we need…” threads get out of conrol, let’s see if we can condense into one giant resource for us all to view…

Who should be in the running for 2011 TBF? Who are you digging right now? Who have you always wanted to see?

The planet staff will be watching…tell us who you’d like to see at the family reunion. :flower

I hope everyone is having a safe and wonderful fall…

:cheers

Just what I’ve been waiting for. Here goes. . .

Darrell Scott - He’s been doing the Planet Bluegrass round the past three years; let’s keep it going and bring him back to Telluride. Let him do a solo set, a set with his bluegrass band, a set with Tim O’brien and/or a set with John Cowan and . . .

Pat Flynn - It’s been too long.

Spencer Bohren - An amazing roots musician and multi-instrumentalist. I saw him last year and he is brilliant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arkW8w8YL9k

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

Beppe Gembetta - An amazing Italian flatpicker.

Railroad Earth - Need I explain?

Robert Plant - By himself, with his Band of Joy (which goes back to my love of Darrell Scott) or with Alison Krauss.

The Infamous Stringdusters - They tore it up at River City Roots in Missoula, MT

Leftover Salmon - They always put on one of the best shows. Always.

Mollie O’Brien - See my comment on RRE

White Water Ramble - I saw these guys open for RRE last year and the were amazing. Their energy reminded me of the energy LoS gives off and they were talented musicians to boot.

Trampled By Turtles - See my Mollie O’Brien comment

I’ve already posted on the other threads, but I’ll mention them here, too.

Leon Russel

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers

I know I’ll think of more later, but we just need Sierra Hull to pay us a visit! And of course, it would help a lot if Alison Krauss was there too, so they can do some numbers together

Ditto on the Infamous Stringdusters…but if you’re bringing all of them into town, how about The Wayword Sons?

Here are a couple. Repeating some already mentioned because they are goooood!

John Fogerty would be a good Sunday gospel set as well.

Asleep At The Wheel would tear it up.

He may be too high priced, but Paul Simon would be a good fit.

Steve Martin!

For something different, the Caravan of Thieves are an up-and-coming, VERY entertaining gypsy band from back East. They put on quite a show at Four Corners this year. Their version of Bohemian Rhapsody is OUTSTANDING.

Steve Martin is recording an album with the Steep Canyon Rangers right now, so you’ve got to figure they’ll be out on tour, and SCR LOVED playing at TBF.

'Dusters and 'Dudes: I travel long distances to catch these bands.

T Bone Burnett is playing with the Punch Bros. in SF next week, maybe next summer, too?
