Town Park virgin? Get your answers here!

Thanks very much…

Hello! Excited to see y’all and boogie down very soon!

I have a question about bringing glass in. I see that it says no glass for the festival but can it be brought in to the camping area? Mason jars, food storage containers, etc? Thanks!

We will be cruising in around 11 on Thursday to Town Park. Our friend has saved us a spot for our tent (hopefully). Just want to confirm if we can drive up to the entrance unload then park. I’m assuming we will have to shuttle back. Also, what happens if there are no spots to camp?

TBF Virgin

I’ll be arriving in town on Thursday, but my ticket is in will call. How will I be allowed into town without my ticket to park at the Town Park campground? How long should i plan on it taking to get to town after parking?

Glass is fine in the Town Park campground (NOT allowed in Warner Field though).

So I know this years festival hasn’t even happened yet but wanted to ask some questions because we missed out this year but are ready to lock in our plans to be there next year.

1.) When do we need to be ready to enter the Town Park lottery and have cash to pay for that? And then how long does it take to find out?

2.) The Town Park camping passes also come with a four day pass right?

3.) Can you have RV’s or campers in the Town Park area? What about the WERNER FIELD?

4.) When do you need to be ready to enter the LATE NIGHT TIX lottery?

5.) When is lineup announced for 2020?

6.) If we do not get TOWN PARK or FIELD camping/tix then we would want to stay in lodging nearby - any suggestions on lodging options that are affordable and walking distance?

7.) If we stay in lodging nearby then we will not be able to access TOWN PARK to see friends - is that right?

8.) I just read you need to show up a week before for a “land rush” for camp spots. What if we can’t arrive till Thursday as the festival starts?!?!?!

Hi All!

Have been to Warner Field before but not Town Park. Psyched for our first TP experience. A couple of questions:

  1. We will be arriving around midnight Wed night or 10am Thurs morning, depends on if we make good time. We have a 6 person tent for our family and our friends will have a 4 person tent - will there be space somewhere in TP for our tents and an easy-up for our setup at that time? We don’t need shade, but just want a space!

  2. Is Town Park ok for kids? We have 1.5 and 3.5 year olds, and not staying in family camping b/c we won the Town Park lottery. Thoughts?

Thank you festivarians! See you sooooon!

  1. if you use a vehicle pass for a non RV, or non medical or children situation, you will be frowned upon by your neighbors.
  2. There are only 30 vehicle passes. Consider selling it to someone who actually needs it.
  3. Generators, or any noise not made by voices or instruments isn’t a cool thing.

There’s no limit to RV’s, just limit to the length of vehicle or trailer, 24ft. RV’s are cool under 24, or trailer.

Hey Mac,

Welcome to Town Park! Prepare for one of the best summers you’ve had to date!

So here’s the deal with the vehicle passes: Camping in Town Park is likely different from most other festivals you may have been to in the past. With Town Park, vehicle passes are extremely limited and they are unofficially reserved for those with mobility issues, medical concerns, or those who are expecting or with young children. These vehicle passes are absolutely crucial for some folks to even be able to attend the fest and thus shouldn’t be utilized just to have your vehicle in camp (unless you are sleeping in your vehicle and have the above ailments). There is ample free parking and you’ll be able to drop off all of your gear near where you camp.

There’s always a list of folks who need these passes to be able to attend TBF so if you have one and want to be a good Festivarian, please contact debbiefromtucson who will get them in the right hands.

As for everything else about TBF 2020, definitely read through this thread and check out the summary here.

Feel free to follow up with any other questions here!

Your vehicle pass doesn’t reserve you a spot and as Todd mentioned if just for parking your 4Runner you would be better selling it to someone who really needs it, and they have free parking as once you get there and you most likely won’t be driving anyway once the music starts. A lot of us Festivarian’s like to arrive at least the weekend before the festival, and many consider those days before to be the best part of the festival. So welcome to town park, get here as soon as possible and say hi and we’ll be happy to help you enjoy the week.

Hello. Virgin here. I was able to the 4 day pass but missed out on all the camping options. Any reccomendation for nearby place to park my 21 ft camper?

Ahoy…first post ever :wave, and am hoping to be a town park virgin this year. Biggest questions is…how can I procure a campsite? I will be come with a warm heart, drink to fill cups :cheers and an open mind ripe for corruption and mis-guidance :evil of the fun kind.

Any recommendations on how I might organize/reserve camping in advance.

Super thanks

That might be a little misleading. There are still camping tickets for Lawson Hill. You are 100% right about Town Park camping is sold out. You will still need a festival 4 day pass which is also sold out.

This pass provides camping for 1 person at the Lawson Hill campground during the 49th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

This camping pass requires a 4-day pass or single-day ticket to the festival.

Camping is sold per-person not per-site.
The Lawson Hill campground is located 4 miles west of the town of Telluride, accessible by a free festival shuttle. The Lawson Hill campground is open from Tuesday, June 14 at 8am thru Monday, June 20 at noon.
Tent camping only. Parking is available nearby.
Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
All Telluride Bluegrass tickets are refundable if returned on or before March 4, 2022. No returns after March 4.

FYI:
Any tickets that become available after the refund deadline of March 4th will be released here on a Tuesday between 10am and 2pm mountain time. There is no waiting list. Good luck!

Camping passes are still available here.

We have been to many TBF’s, but always camped at Ilium. If we can’t get to Town Park until Monday afternoon, will we still be able to find a spot big enough for a family with kids and a big tent? Or are we better off going to Warner Field when we can be there the day it opens? Thanks!

Hey there! The closer you get to the Fest, the more people will pile in and everything will become more crowded. The later you show up from Saturday, you’ll still find a spot BUT you may need to be a little more adaptable as time goes on. Everyone who has a ticket WILL have a place to camp. If you show up Monday you probably will end up with a smaller spot than you had at Ilium but you’ll still be able to squeeze in just fine. However, if you want room to spread out a little more and your kids might be bothered by noise at all hours of the night, Warner might be a better option for you. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! My kids have been going to bluegrass festivals since they were babies and are happy mountain camping kids, so the late night picking is not a problem… Biggest concern is having enough space for a 6 person tent and an easy up since we cook all of our meals. Would love to get in before Wednesday as we are coming straight from Pagosa bluegrass fest. Does the primitive area fill up as quickly as the others? Any hope for finding more space there on Monday? Thank you!!
