Your 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival artist suggestion soap box...

Oh, Hope, don’t you go getting my hopes up now. If that were to happen this summer, I think I’d die of excitement. I’m also not sure I’d be able to wait the amount of time between the announcement and TBF.

Niel Young. I saw him at Red Rocks and he was outstanding! :medal

I’ve been thinking a LOT about Neil Young lately and how much I would love to see him in Telluride, but it’s probably just wishful thinking.

We have not heard the Infamous Stringdusters in the park since 2007. PLEASE bring them back! And the Greensky guys really want to come back to, and they asked me to tell you that they REALLY want to come back. So there you have it.

The Secret Sisters played with TBone at Hardly Strictly last month. They. Are. Terrific! And more importantly, they fit the Telluride vibe.

THat’s a bummer to hear…Levon’s laid claim to some of the best tunes out there! I’d like to think you were just knee deep in the hooch and it was a fluke bad show…but I’ve heard similar reviews.

Maybe he just needs a shot or 2 of Crunchy Frog to loosen up his vocal chords…

Okay, after the THIRD Tuesday in a row, I’m speaking up again!

Planet Bluegrass REALLY should book Abigail Washburn Band, for Telluride Bluegrass. She should be on Fred’s stage, up the mountain and in the canyon NEXT JUNE. I’m thinking second set on Sunday, at the very least, if not earlier in the week. Kick off show in Mountain Village wouldn’t be a bad idea either!

The new music is fresh, inviting and this kind of beautiful music should be played in a beautiful setting. I PROMIE, you will not be disappointed! :medal :thumbsup

How funny…I was just getting on here to suggest RED MOLLY and here are people already talking about them. PLEASE consider them. I loved them in Bristol. http://www.redmolly.com/

Since Mumford & Sons was a huge favorite last year, here is a video of them playing on a balcony in England:

The Banjolin Song

Did anyone hear the Quebe Sisters on Prairie Home Companion this weekend? Delicious 3 part high harmonies a la the Warbie Gals. Perfect breakout act for TBF or maybe even RG, or Wildflower Pavilion?

Also it is high time Grant Gordy got booked for RG.

I have to throw another shout-out for Blackberry Bushes, Mumford and Sons, and adding on Spring Creek Bluegrass Band (2007 New Band Winners) … everyone is in for a treat if TBF can get them back for 2011.

And, of course, Steve Martin. That would be Nirvana-ish.

Just my 1/50th of a dollars worth.

I’d love to see Spring Creek come back. They’re fabulous musicians and Chris (their banjo player) is a great guy. My brothers and I had the pleasure of giving him a ride to Telluride when they played there.

Ohhhhhhhhh Steeeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee… :festivarian

Steve Martin…that is… :flower

String Cheese Incident

Saw them @ red rocks this year & had a blast. While it’s true they often drift away from “pure bluegrass”, they also seem to have a very unique way of integrating bluegrass into their own flavor & unique sound. In other words, they take it for “a walk in the woods” like no other band.

I realize they might draw a big crowd – which could be a bit over the top for the festival, but I believe it might be a good thing in down economic times where concert tix often get put on the backburner. Maybe a strategic coordination of a second or third show on Monday/Tuesday could work out well … just as the Phish shows came on the heel of Telluride Jazz this past summer.

If not cheese, then furthur.

Jackie Greene is really hitting on all cylinders these days. I know he’s played the Blues and Brews but he’d fit in better at TBF.
