I hope that is true about Tracy Grammer! :thumbsup
And… It’s been a few years since Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart were there. I never tire of hearing them.
and Boulder Acoustic Society would be a nice fit… though I assume that since they were such a hit at Telluride last summer (band contest finalists and in the campground) that they will surely be there since Folks is a good fit for them… … is the ink dry yet?
I would like to nominate any of the following for the Folks Fest roster: Storyhill, Garnet Rogers, Ellis Paul, Antje Duvekot, Kelly Joe Phelps, Peter Mulvey, Bruce Cockburn, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, the Wailing Jennys, David Francey, Bill Staines, Trampled By Turtles, Ray Bonneville, Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman, Greg Brown, Tracy Grammer, Justin Roth, Eric Schwartz, and a featured spot for Arthur Lee Land and band, please.
Those are all wonderful suggestions, ogish, I haven’t seen Antje live yet but have plans to see her in March. I have been listening to her stuff, though and it is really good. Love Karen Savoca’s stuff as well, but have also never seen her. Lots to choose from in this genre if one knows where to look and the indie artists that are out there are really worth a listen.
For my first post ever, i’d like to nominate Brett Dennen- If you haven’t heard of or seen this kid you should check him out…he is awesome and would fit the vibe at Folks Fest perfectly
Hi! :wave I would really love to see The Be Good Tanyas again. I can still see that first day that I saw them on stage in my mind. It still gives me a smile and goosebumps to think of my very first time at folks fest and they are a huge part of that memory.
Whatever happened to Greg Brown? We haven’t seen him for a while … and he’s got some grrreat new songs and a new CD. I’d also love to see again Patty Griffin, Iris Dement, Mary Gauthier and Patty Larkin. Todd Snider, of course, and, oh yeah, Van Morrison and Leonard Cohen …
One thing that happened to Greg Brown is that he married Iris Dement.
Debby, it sounds like you would like the 2006 lineeup from the Kate Wolk festival. Just about anyone on that list would be good for Folks.
I would like to suggest “The Dreamsicles” which is a duo out of Texas consisting of Cary Cooper and Tom Prasada-Rao (Tom has performed on the mainstage in Lyons several years ago)
And “The Sherpas” - Tom Prasada-Rao / Tom Kimmel / Michael Lille
Stephen Kellogg is already booked for Folks, according to Pollstar.
I have a hard time understanding how circumstances would prevent PB from finalizing (or at least having a few names by now) Folks lineup any more than they do Telluride of Rockygrass. I mean, Folks is a few weeks after Rockygrass and essentially the entire RG lineup has been announced, and most of it has been known for months. But not a single Folks act? I think this says more about the priorities of PB than anything else.
Maybe they’re gonna shock us with the killer lineup this time, but based on recent years I’m not expecting it. Which is one reason we didnt order tickets this year.
Some of my favorites include: Xaiver Rudd, Mason Jennings, Boulder Acoustic Society, Brandie Carlile, Iron and Wine, Rufus Wainwright, Brett Dennen, and Jessie Baylin.
If we could have a Wainwright, I would rather have Soan Wainwright… but as I said before, I don’t look for that to happen. Also, I saw that Tracy Grammer is booked at another festival in Colorado this season so I am thinking that means she won’t be at Folks.
