When thinking of the elevation of Telluride, which number do you think of?

I’ve heard 8,750 and 8,745 as the official elevation - which one do you think it is? If you think it’s different than those please reply with your answer.

Thanks! :cheers

See you all soon. :wave

i always say 9,000 feet…because it’s close to that…and it sounds SO dramatic;) i’m more into the dramatic than the mathematic…ha-ha…another rhyming couplet.

ah yes, the romantics… :thumbsup

You know… When thinking about the altitude, we should probably consider our attitude… Are you really high? Yes? This is really great for those of us in a pee testing regime, better wait for 2 weeks after TBF for that random test. If you want to respond the original question with no; Keep in mind that you’re gonna be really high no matter what you do…

:peace

I always think 8750 only because I really liked the 8750 reggae band from years ago. Whatever happened to them?

It’s 8745’ for me because of Johnny C’s 8745 feet LIVE @ TELLURIDE album. :thumbsup Please come sing for us again sometime soon, JC? (can’t stand it much longer, damn it!) But 9K’ comes out of my mouth because it does sound awesome-r!

ah, the existenstialists

I exaggerate and say 10,000 :evil

:pipe

the gluttonist! :lol

I’m with Swander. I go with 8745 because of John Cowan’s live album.

I guess I’m a realist cause the sign coming into Telluride says 8750 feet. :thumbsup

To me it all depends on if I’m laying down (8745 ft) or standing up (8751 ft 2 inches).

Did Rasta Stevie run out of his trust fund? :abduct

Whatever makes the best story - that’s what I always say… It could be as high as 12,000 feet if there’s a reason for the extra 2K…

I blow it out of proportion. Telluride 10,000 Mountain Village 11,000 and I am staring at fourteeners

I’ll go with AJ. I always tell people back here in Indiana 10000 ft.

AJ is a popular name this time of year in Indiana.

LOL, that’s prolly true. :lol

8750 is what comes to mind for me.

Wikipedia says 8750 …

… but now I’m curious how the town’s “official elevation” is calculated? Since it’s clear there’s a fair amount of variability within the town boarders. For example, there’s a decent elevation gain on Oak street if you start at the river and walk up to the start of Tomboy Road. At least in the neighborhood of 50 vertical ft. is my rough guess. Perhaps the “center most point in town” (laterally) is where the elevation is measured, or maybe there’s some sort of average akin to the way a house might have the corners of it’s roof in relation to a grade measured out?

Good question though!

Yep 8750…should be the highest point in Tride…

Well…being a Floridian flatlander, and as history has shown we aint big on math ( Cant seem to count them votes ) … Every June, I just tell the neighbors and friends I’m heading back up to Telluride to get as close to the stars, my spirit and my soul ,and of course all you good people !!! I guess the number I think of is 10,000…because thats who we are!!!
