what is your favorite bluegrass song?

what is your favorite song?
i would love to know… Maybe other people too!!! :pickin :rock :festival :hop
remember it can be as many as u want!!!
one of my favs is some ol river by sam bush!!

although recorded and sung by Sam Bush, Same Ol’River was written by Jeff Black. (Sammy does several of Jeff’s tunes.) Jeff tells a funny story about having never heard Sam do it and how he tried to get in to Telluride once just long enough for Sam’s set, but he had no ticket and tried to tell the people a the gate that he wrote Same Ol’ River and that he really wanted to hear Sam sing it… of course they were like , “oh SURE…” and then when jeff finally did get to hear Sam… Sam didn’t do that song! Jeff lives in Nashville now so they get to see each other more often and have performed together. i mention this only because so often the songwriter gets kind of overlooked. Jeff is quite a talent! now i will go think about my favorite “bluegrass” song… but i guess you might mean NEWgrass, eh?

LuAnna

hmmmmmmm . . . . geeese aly, this is a tough one!!! i think it’s really a traditional song, but Blackberry blossom is my fave song to dance to at a bluegrass festival! hmmmm, i think i have a million favorite bluegrass songs, is that allowed??

I am a sucker for “Salty Dog” by anybody!

Also have to say that Bill Monroe’s “Toy Heart” is always a winner.

Salty Dog’s a good one…
Stingray by Sam Bush. :thumbsup

hmmmmm, there are so many, like beautiful flowers and beautiful women
but since you asked…here’s my top ten for 2 night (not in any specific order)

blue night - the real deal, hot rize

walls of time - the way peter and tony played it last year was cool with the slower tempo

whayasay - one of sam’s masterpieces, and yeah, stingray too, already mentioned by the mayor

bigfoot - bela the banjo god of the universe
sunset road
big country- one of bela’s finest, the twin mando version from mike marshall and hamilton de holanda is very cool

cold on the shoulder - a classic from tony rice

green pastures- the version with spyboy band was great, I still hear it rumbling thru the valley sometimes

steel rails- alison krauss in the early years

cora is gone - from the bluegrass album vol 4

thanks aly, you’re an :angel
