what is your favorite bluegrass song?

thanks
i was board so i did this in like 5 seconds… :thumbsup

aly :pickin :rock :butterfly :hop

Hard to choose. If I had to pick an absolute favorite, it’d probably be Rocky Top. Coocoo’s Nest and Blackberry Blossom are both up there as they are very fun to play along with. Everything off of Hartford’s Aereo-plain album. I gotta say, I’m also partial to Super Freak!!!

I love Overgrown Waltz. What an amazing song.

Too many to list but some are:

Steam Powered Aeroplane
Big Country
Sunset Road (can listen to this over and over and over). In fact I do.
Another Morning - duet with Bela Fleck and Jerry Douglas
Bringing in the Georgia Mail - on Sam’s Laps in Seven
Where There is a Road - on Sam’s Laps in Seven

Just to name a few in a million saw Ralph Stanley in February and some from that show

Rank Stranger
Little Maggie

Drew Emmitt :horsey Meet Me In The Mornin’
Play this in the Morning and it is hard not to have a great day :flower

Hope

I agree, Overgrown Waltz by Fleck sends shivers up my spine everytime…Listening to it now in Telluride above Mtn Village, watching the aspens shimmer…nice

:wave

Thank Dave!

I think we’ll get more gems like Overgrown Waltz from the Washburn/Fleck/Driessen/Sollee team, but I have to say, if I didn’t already, that I think it’s the most beautiful piece of music Fleck has ever written. That’s saying alot since there’s only a couple of things he’s written that I would consider “good” or “average” (and no I won’t name those tunes).

Auntie Hope :pickin :green

Ok, I like “Little Maggie” I think Ralph or Carter Stanley wrote it.
I also agree that “Sally Goodin” is a great fiddle tune. I think is was Mountain Heart who played an amazing version at Telluride once. Anybody remember?
From Drew I like “Midnight Blues”.
From Hartford I like “Steamboat Whistle Blues”.
From Doc and Bill “Rabbit in a Log”
Colleen Malone, Nellie Kane from Tim.

RAWHIDE!

Blue moon of kentucky
Bend in the River
Howlin at the Moon
Hit Parade of Love

a couple new ones a couple old ones

Im on an “Old Old House” (Peter Rowan or 3rd tyme out) and “Carolina in the Pines” (Doyle Lawson or Special Consensus) kick at the moment. :thumbsup

Great tune!! There’s a video of Tony Trischka and Paul Schaffer playing on that tune with Michael Martin Murphey on Letterman. If I remember correctly Tony had torn a ligament in his left pinky earlier that week and had it splinted up aside from that performance.

Ditzy & Zesty by Tony Trishka..... swingin'!
                                       :sunshine

Nice! Paul Schaffer cracks me up!

Did you know that Michael Martin Murphey played TBF many moons ago?
It was outstanding!

String Cheese… :thumbsup

But its not going to happen this year so T-Ride is going to have to be the path taken…

“Little Girl and the Dreadful Snake” will make you weep instantly.

…should clarify that…if Bill Monroe is singing it.

I absolutely love Darrell Scott, so I felt compelled to throw this in their, even though he isn’t exactly a bluegrass musician, his Album Real Time with Tim O’Brien was very bluegrassy, so I’ll say “With a Memory Like Mine” from that album
