This is my first time going to Telluride and volunteering. Who else is volunteering, and does anyone have tips for me? I want to camp with other folks and don’t know the best spots.
Which campground??? Thanks for volunteering and when you’re not on duty, I’m tellin’ ya, it’s a blast!!! Now, when you are on duty… it-does-not-suck-even-one-little-bit!
Town Park has the most people, has the most elaborate camps, most picking, and is one of the closest to the festival grounds. If that sounds good to you advertise for a ticket on the Ticket Exchange board.
Warner Field is another excellent option. Those with Warner tickets are allowed access to Town Park for the picking circles and what not. If you can’t find tickets for either of them, Mary E would be your best bet.
Volunteering was a blast…did it in 2003. Definitely work backstage if you can. I got to meet Vince Gill, Michael Kang and Allison Krauss–super fun. That being said, I have rented a condo/house the last two years so I am unfamiliar with the camping situation as of late.
You are more than welcome to hang with my crew–we have a friggin blast. A mechanical engineer, IT professional, and me the Funeral Director or I mean Fundirector!!! Our house is right next to Town Park. Facebook me–Matty Boyle. Party time!!
Why do I keep getting singled out as the bad guy and/or friendly guy and/or the source of all things bacon and boozy??? Let’s make fun of Billy Beru for a while since there are at least 13 things wrong with him that makes him an easy target.

Hey, you’re the one with the lampshade
Can’t spell “funeral” without f-u-n! At least that’s what I told my mother a long time ago after she chided me for being too jovial at my grandfather’s funeral.
I think you’re being singled out as the guy that makes the most of having fun, taking that fun to the edge but never jumping off the cliff and for Pete’s sake Hooch, they’re sending festi-virgins your way… AGAIN!!! If that’s wrong we don’t want to be right!
Awww heck, I’m just having fun with Hooch 'cause he’s a man who knows how to have fun. I forgot he’s the strong sensitive type though, I’ll play nice :cheers
It’s only cause he looks so much better in that damn lampshade than his campmates :flower Seriously, I would direct you to the grand viewing area of Run a Muck, there are many super cool folks up there just waiting with open arms. No matter what Huckin Fappy says, they don’t bite. SUR
i volunteered last year and it was fun, i was bummed to miss a few of my favorite bands but since i worked the kids tent i was close enough to still hear the tunes! also, make friends w/ your fellow volunteers…it’ll come in handy when you need to switch shifts!
Okay, it looks like the high school or Lawson Hill are the only camping places left. Which is better? It says Lawson is 3 miles from the festival I would rather be close. How far is the high school from the festival?
