We’ll be getting in on Saturday 11th to get a spot in TP, however, we need to go back to our day jobs Monday-Wednesday. Is it acceptable to setup camp and leave it unattended for 3 days? What would you recommend? Should we only leave tarps behind or our setup tents?
Also, are dogs allowed in TP or any other campsites?
Finally, we have a couple friends that won’t be able to arrive until Thursday. Can we set up their tent for them or is it frowned upon? And can we pick up their wristbands for them or do they have to be present at will call?
Folks,
The tent that I can find for 4 people plus instruments is 18’ by 10’. Hoping that is not too big for TP. We plan to get there sometime Saturday.
Your best bet would be to check in at the kids tent first thing Thursday a.m. They will have all four days mapped out for the kids. Super nice folks that want to make sure all families have a great time at fest.
TP Virgin here. I’ve been reading through the forum and wanted to get some advice. My girlfriend was lucky enough to get tickets through the lottery for TBF Town Park Camping with the 4-day pass. From the sounds of it we are still not guaranteed a camp spot in Town Park. How likely are we to find a spot if we roll in Thursday (16th) at noon?
Also what would the parking situation be like? Could we find parking around there or will we have to park at Mountain Village?
While I’m at it which is better, a charcoal stove or propane? Is a shade tent necessary? I see in the photos everyone has traps in the trees.
You will be hard pressed to find a spot on Thursday. They will exist, but it will most likely mean a spot for your tent and nothing else. If you are coming in on Thursday, you won’t need much else besides a spot for a tent. Wander around and meet some folks and you should be set.
Older and camping in school campground. Attended 10 yrs. ago with family but stayed in condo. traveling solo this time. How far is this campground from festival? From parking? No fires of any kind? :wave
No campfires. I don’t know about the high-school, but propane fire pits are common in Town Park. You can walk to the festival, but expect it to take 10 minutes or so. If you are there early enough, you might get to park in the scool lot. If not, you will be parked in the town on the other side of the mountain and take the free gondola back to camp. You can unload your car before parking, though.
Walk is 20 minutes at a decent clip, and a little long if you’re carrying festival chair. There are shuttles very frequently that pick up across the street near the market.
So I’ll be in Town Park this year–and yep, it’s my first time at Telluride! :medal
However, I think the earliest I’ll be able to get to the camp ground is Wednesday the 14th (and likely late Wednesday), and after doing some reading, it sounds like it can be hard to find a spot in Town Park–even with a pass–after the first couple of days of the campground opening. It will just be me, and I only will have a small two-man tent. Should I be worried about getting in on Wednesday and not being able to find space?
Hey there Miltown, :wave :wave
Welcome, and please start your pre-fest fitness program soon if not started already. :cheers :cheers Hippy :thedude can help you with an appropriate fitness routine, customized to your individual drug and alcohol tolerances. :bubbles
So, as to your concern about showing up on Wednesday, don’t be. Simply show up, add a bit of stumble/stagger to your step, just for theatrical effects mind you, carry a tarp under one arm and a tasty beverage to share in the other. (Adorned in tie dye helps) :flower
stagger/stumble while smiling saying hello and sharing your beverage with all you meet.
You’l find a spot! :medal :medal
Excellent! Sharing beverages I can do. And my fitness routine is well underway. :cheers
Btw, when will people be able to start entering the campground? Am I right that it will open for Telluride BG campers on Saturday, June 10th? And one other question about arriving mid-week–if I arrive Wednesday, will there still be room for me to drive in to a campsite, unload, and then take my car to an off-site parking area, or is Town Park so crammed with people that driving into it mid-week even for unloading purposes a tough thing to do? I can pack in all my gear easily if need be, but if I can unload from my car, that would obviously be easiest.
Yes, you’ll be given a limited amount of time to bring your car in to unload before taking your car to the designated parking area.
The earlier you can get there on Wednesday the better, since it’s a lot harder to find a spot and set up in the dark.
Welcome to our little community. :thumbsup
