Town Park virgin? Get your answers here!

It’s not too late for a solo traveler to find a Town Park ticket. Being on site would make your NightGrass schedule much more doable.

Better place to stock up on food, beer, booze–Delta or Montrose?

Our flight gets into Grand Junction and we cannot check into our condo until the next day, so we are planning on stopping in either Delta or Montrose for the night to stock up for the week.

I’d say Montrose.
Not so much because I live there, but because everything you’ll need is pretty much along the main drag going towards Telluride.
In Delta they’re a bit more scattered, so if you don’t know the town you can have a hard time finding things.

I’ll second that. You can find it all on the main drag in Montrose. Do try and avoid the first King Soopers on your right. Walmart (left) and Target (right) Super Centers are much cleaner.

OK so at the risk of being sacrificed, I admit I am a Town Park virgin. :whip

I have read and re-read this entire thread and still have a few questions. To give background, I am an experienced Festivarian, having attended both Rocky Grass and Folks Fest many times. I attended TBF in 2011 but stayed in a condo (fortunately as it turned out, with Sunday snow) Even with that I have been wanting to do Town Park ever since and finally am doing it SOLO this year! :cheers :hombre

I arrive mid-day on Saturday and am wondering:

  1. I have a mid-sized tent, one large cooler and a camping chuck box that my gear will be stored in and my stove will be stored on. Does this sound like a reasonable amount of gear for one person or do I need to try and down size?
  2. I have been given some advice on where to pitch a tent generally, but any further advice on how to pick an area/camp would be appreciated.
  3. Given the events I understand that happen throughout the week, what kind of supplies should I bring to pitch in to the group gatherings/events? I just want to ensure I bring anything needed that might not be readily available in T-Ride.

Thanks so much, I look forward to meeting you all and am certain this FESTIVAAAAL will be the time of my life.

  1. IS THAT ALL THE STUFF YOUR BRINGING!?! What about your party decorations???

  2. Introduce yourself when you arrive. Go from there.

  3. Nate, You should have tarpage… tarps & tarps & tarps. We still have to wait for the Mayor to put out his annual list, if he even does it this year, to know what will be needed for special events. Hang in there!

Special events? What say you Auntie Hope? Isn’t the festival the event? :flower :flower

Come for the fest, stay for the pre-fest. Or, more accurately, come for the festival, but arrive 5 to 10 days early for the pre-fest. After 7 years of attending the festival, the pre-fest is a large part of what keeps me coming back every year. The location and music are wonderful, but it truly is the community that makes this the best festival I’ve attended.

Next year, for sure, see you there friends

Thanks for the reply Hope. Got it on the tarps.

I guess I am just excited. I guess waiting truly is the hardest part.

Almost June… Hang in there! :hop

I have camped in Town Park for the Blues and Brews fest a few years ago (When BB King headlined - RIP!) and in terms of parking for folks who do not have a vehicle pass for TP the designated parking was way down at the other end of town. Is there anything a little closer to Town Park? :huh

Thanks for offering your expertise!! :cheers

It depends on when you get there. Last year, I was parked up the road from Town Park, but I got there the Sunday before. You will most likely be parked in Car Henge or in Mountain Village depending on parking availability upon your arrival.

Sugar, how’d you swing that?! We’ve arrived Saturday each year and end up in carhenge.

Some people left to go sightseeing and we were given their spot.

Wow. :spill That gives new meaning to :quote Ground Score :quote! :drive

Carhenge is awesome! It’s my first quiet hike of the week (or bike ride) along the river back to camp…love it. :lovedr
Don’t see the truck again for eight glorious days. :thumbsup

How far out of town is it? and when does it typically fill up by?

And, Nick’s in charge of drop off and pick up, so it really doesn’t matter! :lol
