Town Park virgin? Get your answers here!

Will i be able to find a good spot for a 4 person tent if i roll into town park late Sunday (17th) night?

Yes Sugar. All will be well on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you then! :cheers

Oh, Hope, you confused me there for a second. I couldn’t remember asking a question here.
:cheers

Imagine how I feel every time I read…
“Hope you feel…” or “Hope this time…”

This one is for you...

Yes, Sugar, you are Hippie Jr. We look forward to the day that Hippie Jerry retires and you & Hooch are the main hosts for the Oyster BBQ!

So is there an “Official, Unofficial Town Park Schedule of Events/Random Occurrences” this year?

I would like to meet some of you fine folks this time around. :cheers

Originally there wasn’t going to be an “official” schedule because of so many veterans missing out this year.

It was mutually agreed upon that we post this schedule so that we did not come across as an elite group not willing to let others in. We are festivarians after all. :flower

Remember this: Most of these events are hosted by individuals that put out a lot of money and planning for these for the pleasure of everyone. Please contribute generously so the burden doesn’t fall entirely on those that host each event.

Pre-fest 2012 schedule

Absolutely, I always bring more than I take…it’s better that way.

Well almost always anyway. :lol

Thanks TT…

No “HomeBrew Tasting” this year? :frowning:

Awesome Tom, I knew you could do it! Now stay away from that “Red Solo Cup” on Wednesday Afternoon.

and remember that’s not just a cup

So I’m a 70-year-old virgin (Town Park, I mean!) and I have tickets and a car pass for TP, but I can’t leave here before early Monday morning in my (also) old 24-foot camper. I’m sure I will be there by 7 or 8. What can I expect about finding a spot to park my little rolling home? And is there water or electricity available? 35 years ago I camped under a tarp and slept on a little foam pad and didn’t take up much room at all, but not not now.

It’s gonna be tight finding a spot but it can be done.
There aren’t any hookups of any kind but there is water to fill your tanks if you have them.
Otherwise be sure to have some water jugs.

where is here? If you are 70 shouldn’t you be retired and able to set your own schedule? if you can leave on Sunday you may have a better chance. I am assuming you mean the 18th and not the 11th. If you mean the 11th then you will be part of the ABGAT crew and will be just fine, and totally acclimated by the time festival rolls around. I hope to meet you chefboyhowdy! And just maybe I did 35 years ago! My first TBF was in 1976 for the 3rd, so we probably saw each other at some point in there!

Thanks Tom & Cindy Lou! You help me feel at home and relieve some of the “where-the-heck-can-I-park-and-not-be-a-jerk” jitters! I live in Salt Lake and it’s about 7-8 hours drive; maybe I can get going Sunday and drive half way to get there about noon on Monday. Just have to take my chances; I’m committed to a surprise party for a friend’s 90th birthday Sunday at noon. Tom, I know I’ll see you; and Cindy Lou I’ll keep an eye out for you, too. Thanks again.

Hello chefboyhowdy! We live an hour north from you: would love to hear more about Utah back in the day. Look forward to finding where you end up.

chefboyhowdy,

A few things have changed since you were there last. There’s a new(er) stage and Baked in Telluride has all new digs, but in the same spot. I’m sure there’s more but I don’t want to spoil all the surprises.

Looking forward to meeting you in person!

OH! The streets are paved now. Real asphalt and everything! :lol

I am a Town Park Virgin arriving Wed. early am, and have a couple of questions: Will I be able to still find a camping spot? Also, I am interested in some slow jams (I play fiddle, and am just learning to jam)- are there any slow jams in Town Park are are they all pretty advanced? Finally, what is a good neighborly fun thing to bring to Town PArk? I have a homemade cornhole set - would that take up too much space? I can not wait to get there!!! :wave

You will be able to fit in on many jams. There are many levels & you will find out you will be welcome to sit in on many of them. If you are by yourself, camping-wise, just ask an existing camp where you can set up & they will happily oblige. As for the cornhole set, you may not want to waste your time with that since the Festival will start the day after you arrive…then, no time for that…IMHO. Enjoy! You are gonna have a blast! :cheers

Mnt mama: feel free to set up your tent by ours. We may not return until Thursday am, but will have a three room tent set up, probably in primitive area of town park by Sunday night. Look for flamingo bird spinner on our tent. Most of our Durango group is in a semi-serious band called Group Shower, and they could use a fiddle ( have guitars, bass, and mandolin, sometimes drums)! And we play corn hole! If that’s what I think it is…

Mark J and Bird Lady- Thank you for your kind replies! :flower I am so happy that I will be able to join some jams! Bird Lady- I will look for your flamingo- it sounds like a good match! 10 days to go!! I am chomping to go!
