The ultimate packing list

I’m sure this has been previously discussed and apologize for any redundancy, but I was wondering about access to ice. Where might one be able to obtain such an item?

There are two groceries in opposite sides of town and the liquor store may too. If you are in Warner or Townie Park, there is usually an ice vendor that sells in the mornings and afternoon.

The importance of ice is pretty high on the camper’s list, so the Planet tries to accommdate.

Everyone there seemed to have the same brand of sandals and rain jacket. It’s like everyone got the memo but me. I think the sandals were Chaco’s. Any idea bout the rain jackets? Or suggestions for good brands that aren’t extraordinarily expensive?

Thanks!
Chris

You can generally trust North Face to make a good coat without charging too much.

If all you really need is a “waterproof” rain jacket, check out Cabellas. They distribute good robust gear at a reasonable price.

:peace

Campmor (http://www.campmor.com/) has some of the best prices, although I’ve been getting mine in the Freebox or KOTO’s annual Skiswap for longer than I care to admit.

Can we leave yet?

Not until we find tickets…LOL

Yes Chacos are a must :thumbsup and you should spend the buck and invest in some good foot “slave” I personally love bluegoo it is a life saver! Trust me… Pain will make one desperate and not being able to :woohoo 2 days in is such a tragedy!!! Worst case scenario pack a few extra tins of carmex.

Wow that thing is massive looking
where do you put the bacon?

Could I solicit opinions on camp pads? Can we get by with the $8 foam pads from Walmart?

Festivirgin here and getting very excited!

Sure as long as you remember that the ground at Telluride is like frozen concrete! :cheers

Well, my husband wants to lay down our yoga mats, then our old sleeping bags, and sleep in our new bags on top of that. :eek I’m thinking that’s not going to cut it! If any internet strangers were appalled by this, it would help my cause.

Any specific recommendations for camp pads that are good at high altitude (especially in the $30 and under category) would be super helpful, too.

Buy a queen size mystery foam mattress and an air mattress sacrifice
And mate them. (use the air mattress as a pillow case just cut em and stuff em) we did that and it waterproofs it as well as provides a moisture/thermal barrier. You can find old air matresses all over try good will thrift shops craigslist freebox ect. Good luck ps just to clarify do not use the air mattress with air. You will freeze

In my humble opinion, no you cannot. I recommend the REI 3.5" XL pad found here - it’s worth the investment and through April 15th, REI is having their 20% off one item sale:
