The song of the fest?

So many great performances, but if I had to come up with one song that I’ll remember from TBF 41, it’s “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”. Isbell magically got the entire crowd up on its feet. Then he goes and ends with “Don’t wann die in a super 8 motel”. Now THAT’s the way to have people wanting more!

That was sick, John!

Too many but I would go with Going to California or Sailin Shoes.

Probably one of the more rocking moments of the Fest CJohn.

I’m partial to Oh Atlanta and Cortez the Killer.
Del also rips up a fine Cold Rain and Snow.

Anybody keep count of the # of baseball references that Sam Bush and Chris Thile use while on stage? Obviously, they are baseball lovers.
My favorite was Thile describing his song “Movement and Location” saying it was about Greg Maddux’s pitching. As an ATLer and baseball lover, I enjoyed the reference.

BB - I was walking to the beer stand when he started this and saw at least 10 guys stand up and play air guitar all at once!

Obviously they were under the influence of C Frogs.

I keep thinking about Dave Rawlings Machine playing “Queen Jane”. Beautiful!

you better make that 11! :rock

I don’t have a particular song but I loved Keller and the McCoury’s set . Keller can play anything . I was also really curious about Steve Winwood set . I was back at camp at the high school when he played . So many great acts . So hard to choose 1 or 50 !!

Here and Heaven by Punch on Saturday was a highlight for me.

I wasn’t there, but listening to KOTO I had some really transcendent moments during the first few House Band songs (as usual, but perhaps moreso this year - not sure if it has to do with the way they bring that close-of-fest energy or what, but they’re just exciting every time).

I had a hard time holding in a few chuckles when Sam said that he used to catch for Chris.

PR - Walls of Time

The song of the festival for me is almost always Circles Around Me. It’s not just a great song, but it perfectly captures the emotions of the festival. Standing there on the tarp with some of the best people I know while Sam sings about how he feels so lucky to have found this place and the people who come year after year is always a special moment.

Going to California with John Paul Jones on the mandolin was also an amazing moment. That was a highlight for me.

I was blown away by Keller Williams cover of “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster the People! My sons had a great statement… How damn great musicians does one have to be to be a cover band and play Telluride! LOL!
Kids!

Was Another Bueno Festival!

Peace Newg!

Yes!!

Double Yes!

‘Goin to California’ was one of my top moments on stage ever!

Agreed. That song was in my top 1. :cheers

Dave Rawlings Machine was definitely my favorite act of the festival. And the encore was amazing. Coincidentally, during that set I was standing there on the tarp down front with a girl who actually did have flowers in her hair.

:festivarian

My top 5 tunes, in no particular order

  • Going to California
  • Big Country with Bela backed by 50 players
  • Willie Watson & Dave Rawlings machine singing a sea shanty called Barrett’s Privateers at Elk Park. That whole set was off the charts.
  • That weird carnival-ish tune that Sam Bush played with maybe Chris Thile? Does anyone have any info on that?
  • Almost of the house band tunes. Maybe the one with just Sam & Jerry

The William Tell Overture for sure! :pirate
