The song of the fest?

Circles Around Me… Just so perfect. Makes me feel weepy in a good way… Love you guys and gals :medal

for me Red Clay Halo from the Sara and Sean Watkins elk park set. Sung by Gillian with the machine on stage, about 30 feet in front of me. it was huge for me because it’s the song i’ve played and sang in bluegrass picks the most, by a lot.

Double Yes!

These are all great songs being mentioned, can’t go wrong with ‘Going to California’ or ‘Cortez the Killer’ but I want to add the ‘Could You Be Loved’ cover that Greensky performed. That is such a funky beat and I love hearing Anders and his dobro just shredding it up.

Greensky’s “Elk Park Happy Hour Show” was all cover tunes and I expected that one but they saved it for the main stage. Those guys are tight!

Greensky does some really good covers. Always fun hearing ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘When Doves Cry’, or ‘Dancing in the Dark’ with string instruments…

I agree with everybody and every song mentioned gave me goosebumps. But, for me, the coolest thing I heard was Del McCoury playing U2 during the House Band set.

What a freaking great weekend that was.

favorite set of the fest was Salmon’s NightGrass show at the Sheridan …

favorite song from that show was the Beatles cover “Oh! Darling” sung by Drew Emmitt’s young daughter … the look on her face when the audience roared approval at the end of the song was priceless … one of those tear-jerker moments we’ll never forget

hope someone recorded the show and uploads it … thanks to Planet Bluegrass and Festivarians everywhere for another great trip !

I didn’t see any tapers in the audience, but the sound guy appeared to have the audience miked, so I’m sure it will go up on live salmon. Of course, you’ll have to pay $10 or something like that.

Sorta liked the Machine’s version of Monkey and the Engineer. Brought back some good memories.

Sam playing Spanish Moon with Bill Payne. That was incredible.

I think my favorite song/set was the Yonder with “the Sara(h)s” set at Elks Park. The song was that Illinois River song that Sara absolutely smoked. I wish I knew what the song really was but it shocked everybody on stage and off.

Here and Heaven with Aoife and the Punch Brothers was something very special. Too bad they couldn’t bring in Yo Yo Ma!

That was “Long Hot Summer Day” by John Hartford. Originally released on Mark Twang
