Roadtrippppppp!!!

Volgirl, check out Black Canyon near Gunnison if you have a chance, way out or back! Def. worth the view, even beter if you have a day to hike down and back up! Be sure to bring plenty o water or a filter to fill up at the bottom.

Also, Ouray is nice!..but once you get west its allllll relative!

Riding up across the big res from Flagstaff with my 9 year old the weekend before. We’ll take the direct route up 160 through Tuba City, Kayenta, Cortez and Dolores on the way up 'cause we can’t wait to get there, then take a week to return via Ouray, Silverton, Durango, and Mesa Verde.

Hey - anybody driving through Durango watch for the police at the Hermosa curve on 550 just north of Dgo, a friend who grew up there says the’ve been crazy about that curve lately. It’s easy headed either direction to get going fast because the road seems wide open like a freeway but it’s just a local highway and the police treat it as such. Just another Colorado gold mine. I always see folks stopped there.

Wow! Thanks for that tip, Jake and Wanda!

thx for the idea pt! i bet we’re hitting a similar route if y’all are coming from nc. maybe we’ll cross paths on the way out there or at the fest

sounds good. Gotta stop in Memphis Friday on the way out and get us some Memphis BBQ. Spending monday night at the old saloon inn in Ouray, then to Mary E early tuesday to try and get a nice set up!

It sounds like you’ll be hitting a much farther north route if those are your destinations. It’s easy to spend a very long time exploring out here in the Wild Wild West. And you still don’t see it all!

yeah, i really need to map it out. once school’s out

Per Hippie: “When driving at night; Watch out for the critters, a single deer or Elk can make your vacation plans change very quickly.”

As I always remind Kara…“if you can’t stop before you hit’em, drive through them not around! better them than you!!!”

Safe travels to all.

i think i’m adding arches to my road trip itinerary (either before or after)!

i’m trying to find a used roof rack for my car so i can bring my bike

Arches is pretty cool. Definitely bring your bike to Telluride.

i guess i also need to figure out where i put my regular pedals—clipins+festivating=some sort of crash! lol :stuck_out_tongue:

hooch- do you know the chair rule? or can you direct me to it? i’m bringing my tailgate chair but wondering if i need to get a smaller camp chair (the one that sits directly on the ground)? plus i’m kinda scared vol-haters might kidnap my lucky chair!

also, my little car is slowly filling up! can i survive w/o my camp stove?

Spend a day in Moab if headed to arches!

I’m hitting Moab right after TBF. If you go and camp, camp right off Rt 128 - you will have an awesome site right along the Colorado River. It’s sweet! :thumbsup

:cheers

The rule is: if you can fit a basketball underneath the chair then it’s too tall.

Alternately you can use higher chairs if you sit back beyond the designated sign that says “No highback chairs beyond this point”.

Also, Vol chairs usually end up somewhere in a tree.

It depends on if you are friendly. Plenty of established camps take in newbies and let them share stoves/food in exchange for help (washing dishes) or contributing food/drinks/money to the group. Feel free to hang with us in Run-A-Muck if you can tolerate my abuse. It’s up close to the festival grounds so a bit louder than others. If you can convince Ron to let you join Wander In then you can have a private shower with a beer tap. It just depends on what you like. Also, if you can pre-arrange to join a camp then you can get a better idea of what you can leave behind.

Hooch, I only recently learned of your Gator roots. :hooch

Vols fans, this UCLA grad school alumnus has got your back. :mad

There will be no Vols chairs in any trees, only gator carcass.

:medal

look, my vols need all the damn luck they can get this season so my chair better not end up in a tree! :stuck_out_tongue: if so, i’ll just have to sic billy/dustin/etc on somebody!

billy-thx for the info about the campground and pt i am planning on checking out moab. is it time to hit the road yet?

hooch-minus your gatorness i appreciate all your advice  i think i’ll skip the camp stove and go for the friendly factor to join another camp or just eat stuff that doesn’t require cooking-i can survive a long while on pb&j!

Awww Billy, I liked you up until about 3 seconds ago!! I’m going to throw up at your August house-warming party!!!
