Roadtrippppppp!!!

We’re driving in from Chicago, picking up a body in Iowa City. We’re going to try and get from Chi-town to Denver in one shot, then spend a couple days driving from Denver to Telluride, arriving at Illium on Tues/Wed. Can’t wait for the fest or the drive.

Driving up from AZ…scenic route, driving at night…just get us there! :O)

((signed))

Wait…does road trippin’ from Denver count. I’m mean the road trip is a state of mind that can not be quantified by miles/hours…right?

Wed. morning Morrison->Illum. We’re stoked!

When driving at night; Watch out for the critters, a single deer or Elk can make your vacation plans change very quickly.

Any recommendations on camping in New Mexico…north-ish of Santa Fe preferably? gonna stop in Memphis for some tunes & BBQ along the way from NC. One night in Ouray and Kara has never been to gunnison!!!

Any thoughts on the Dunes vs Mesa Verde?

Mesa Verde is a Must Do !

:cheers

what a great road!! we traveled it to TBF last year, and we enjoyed every second. i cannot wait to get back on that road again!!! 8 weeks???

Jay from Steamboat here. I’m hitch-hiking around NC right now, going to see Todd Snider tonight in Asheville. The President is here, too. Now this is the way to road trip. Hitching all the way back to CO for TBF. Someone pick me up.

I’m stopping in Memphis as well for blues and BBQ - will be there night of June 8th.

I’ve done both the Sand Dunes and Mesa Verde and both are great. If you can only do one then it depends on what you want to do more.

The Great Sand Dunes are incredible, you get to hike them, slide on them, feel the incredible wind, camp near them, etc.

Mesa is also beautiful but more ruins, cave dwellings, artifacts, a tour, etc.

So you can’t go wrong with either, just depends on what you are looking for. Mesa is a couple hours closer to T-ride than the Dunes in case that matters.

:wave Lived in CO since '79. You can’t go wrong no matter which route you choose. Nothin better than travelin across the country. You just can’t see it when you fly- you miss the whole REAL world when you fly past it! If you’re new to Telluride, you won’t believe the beauty of the box canyon and the 14er’s. You’re in for a real treat. Have fun on your way!!! :cheers

Thanks for the details, dunes sounds more up our ally on this trip. I have traveled all over CO, just never made the turn to Telluride. Can’t wait to et back!!!

i’m heading west from the bright sunny south  (knoxville to telluride with lotsa stops along the way)

Lots of great stops along the way…we are already wishing for another week or two on the road, better enjoy what we get!

Hey will you pick up my friends on the Big Island and bring them with you?

Along the Rio Grande above Taos is gorgeous. You can get right down to the river in places. Google Taos Box and it will get you started. NM is beautiful but keep in mind it is pretty high elevation too, which means cool at night. You might even get in a whitewater trip if you have time. It’s a definite adrenalin rush! that sounds cool cindy lou! i’m trying to figure out my various stops…hitting memphis, stl (see my sister), denver/estes park (friend) and i also have a friend in steamboat i wanna try to see. not sure how i’m going to fit it all in but i can’t wait

If you are coming to Telluride from Denver then consider taking the longer more scenic route. The interstate drive is also pretty but back roads and smaller mountain towns are more fun.

yep, hooch. i am planning on the scenic route

Good move :wave I stayed away from the interstate my first 10 or 20 trips to the four corners, still do in fact. However, I’m now simply eager to get out to see the family.

and aaaaa Hooch… you may not be as cute as Mika the wonderdog, but, I’ll still save some bacon treats for you :flower

Can we go yet?

:peace

Can we go yet???..Man, I’m already there! I’m camping in our usual Run-A-Muck spot and cooking bacon for squirrels! (That sounds wayyy better than what I’m actually doing which is sitting at my desk staring at design drawings and toast crumbs).
