We’ve never been to Rockygrass…where in on-site camping do the families camp? Or is it random? I’m pregnant and so don’t want to walk forever to the festival either. We have a 3 & 6 year old and another friend’s 2 year old. Prefer shade and close to grounds…probably not happening…
Hey Kira - long time no talk - hope you and Michael and the family are doing well. Congrats on the upcoming little one!
To my knowledge, there’s no designated family camping in onsite. Onsite is basically 24x7 picking (think Town Park but more picking everywhere) which could be a challenge for the kiddos. The backstage section of onsite is definitely chiller but I’ve never camped there myself so I can’t attest to the late night situation.
This doesn’t answer your questions specifically but there is a family area in Lavern Johnson with quiet hours observed from Midnight to 7am. It’s a half mile walk to the fest or there’s a shuttle that picks you up right there! There’s tons of info at the link I included above but @TheLorax27 is our resident expert on LVJ if you have any follow up questions.
Hope to see you around at fest!
Hi!! I guess we’ll just try to find other families to camp near.
Definitely try heading for the backstage area rather than main onsite! It’s marked with an “OCN” tent on this map: https://bluegrass.com/rockygrass/festival-info/RGMap
