This will be our first time camping at RG. My wife and i are Telluride veterans, but we have a 19 month old now and this will be his first time camping at a music festival. So we wanted to be a little closer to home (we’re in Denver) in case things go sideways, lol.
I know LJ is the only campground with quiet hours. But i didn’t want to assume that’s the best site for family camping.
If you’ve been to RG with a toddler I’d love to hear your thoughts and recos (even outside of choosing the best place to camp).
LJ is great for kids but really anywhere will be okay compared to most spots in Town Park. There are definitely active picking camps around onsite but there are plenty of quiet spots too - especially backstage (marked by "OCN) on this map
I’ve never camped in Shady Grove but it does seem pretty laid back and quiet. The downside is you have to haul in all of your gear (parking is north of the 7 on the map).
Heyo! Lavern is great for kids. There are a few pickin’ camps but they are quite mellow. There is one whole side that has quiet hours. The only draw back I could see is the walk/bike ride up to festival. Especially with the gear needed for a little. The walk is 5/10 minutes uphill to fest from LJ. I don’t have a toddler, so I will defer to others on the extra info. Shade would be the kicker in the festival, I’d think. There are spots in the back and on the sides for shade tents, those are popular for the tarp runners tho. Perhaps you could team up with another family to get that going. Hope that helps, Happy Festivating!
