MY MORNING JACKET!!! :thumbsup :wave

So i’m thinking if we’re making Jerry’s 25th Fest the central theme, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see J.D. Crowe and Tony Rice play with him. Toss is Ricky Skaggs for some old “New South” or…and I know i’m dreaming outloud, but could you imagine…Doyle Lawson and a Bluegrass Album Band set???

What ever you guys do, I know it will be absolutely fantastic , but any of the above would thoroughly blow my freekin’ mind.

:cheers

Hey! Why not add Jerry Douglas and call them…

“The Telluride House Band” :lol

PB Rookie, you’re on the right track! Can’t wait to meet you!

Auntie Hope :pickin :green

I think GOGOL BORDELLO should close down SAT.pm, Sam,Tim,Peter,Drew,Vince,Del,maybe a little Elvis Costello,Emmylou,Gillian,REK,Ray Wylie & Todd Snider,Big Chief Bo Dollis & the Wild Magnolias,How bout some Robert Randolph to close Thur. pm.,Fred Eaglesmith,Yonder,DEL CASTILLO to close Fri. pm. House Band to close Sun. pm.,Do some Darrell,Buddy & Band,James McMurtry,John Hiatt, Chip & Carrie,Maybe a little Jack White,How many do I have left???

Hey Craig, have you ever considered getting Neil Young? :angel :lol

Seriously though…2008 was an odd year for me. I enjoyed some of the new names and smaller acts so much, the big name regulars sort of let me down. Emmitt-Nershi was really good, but Yonder left me hollow. Sam was Sam, and that’s always good, but Jerry missed the mark with me. It was Paolo, Tift, and the Sell Season that rocked my world.

So who do I want in 2009? I don’t know yet. I almost never know until Crain introduces me to them. I know I want to hear our usual campground pickers (more Steve!!), I don’t want to hear Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, I want to hear Emmylou and Alison again, I don’t need to hear the Punch Brothers again. One of the most magical moments in the last 5 years was Xavier on Sunday morning, and I miss him.

But still, what are my real suggestions? Whatever Craig feels is a perfect fit for TBF!

Auntie Hope, I just noticed you are in Nashville. We’re neighbors!

Oh!! I forgot Jerry on the list (thanks for reminding me)!. He was definitely with them at Bonnaroo 2008…INCREDIBLE show!

Josh Ritter please!!

Also, Fiction Family, Storyhill, The Wailin’ Jennys, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Trampled by Turtles

Hell Yes Josh Ritter!!!

He’s is absolutely amazing.

well, as long as I’m on here… i’m not saying that you should bring him back this year but I honestly can’t get my head around all the negative feeling about Ryan Adams.

I get that his loud, dissonant, rambling and even ‘obnoxious’ set wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea but… he was the second best songwriter in the whole valley that weekend. (and that includes folks like Tim O’brien, Darrel Scott, Soloman Burke, Tift Merrit, Del, Ricky Skaggs, John Oates, Bruce Hornsby, Glen Hansard etc…

Just seems like that would count for something. Even if we’re talking about just the performance… not that bad. The Frames were nearly unlistenable and the Swell Season were only margianaly better.

But all that said, we all love most any music and I didn’t regret listening to any of the folks we saw and can’t wait to see whoever gets thrown our way this here.

Just my two cents

peace and be well

I was wondering if anyone considers Elliott Brood to be grassy enough to play at the festival. I’ve wanted them to play more in the US, but they’re so damn canadian.

They’re pretty folk rock, but awesome either way. Well have fun disagreeing

Not: Ryan Adams, Bryan Adams or anything having to do with Barenaked Ladies

I thought of a couple good “non-traditonal” suggestions for the line-up:

Blitzen Trapper - out of Portland would be a great folk / rockish group to consider.

Fleet Foxes - out of Seattle would be another great group to consider. Their harmonies are beach boys / CSNY esque

Grace Potter could get peoples booties and souls shakin on a hot mountain day.

For the more traditional:

I just saw Greensky Bluegrass the other night and they just keep getting better…

Hot Buttered Rum would be fun (as always.)

Old Crow Medicine Show
Trampled by Turtles

I know others have mentioned it, but The Avett Brothers have really progressed as musicians since their last Telluride apperance and it would be great to see them one last time before they become HUGE!

Oh yeah, Thanks for Railroad Earth the Steeldrivers and Emmylou. I’m already excited for the 2009 lineup! I’m just looking for a little iceing on the cake!

PS. Bob Wilke Knows what he is talking about…
