First Grass

I am totally excited about coming to Telluride again.

Truly one of the best things in my life and I’m rapt to be camping this year, hello Duk Tapers!

But I do have a question.

Even though I read Forum posts regularly I feel like I have missed something.

Is Billy Strings really playing at Firstgrass?

Cause that would be totally awesome. I have been watching his performances on YouTube for months and he is brilliant. I cannot wait to see him live.

But I can’t find anything that actually confirms this

So - my big question- did I dream this, is it true and if it’s not, can we please make it happen?

I love heading up the mountain, sitting in the sunshine listening to the new bands I’ve never seen before. The first year I came to TBGF I sat there and thought my face would melt I was so happy ( and we saw Rhiannon Giddens who was brilliant)
The intimacy and friendliness at Firstgrass is really special. I inevitably make new friends there.

Oh , am so looking forward to being back.
See you all soon.

I don’t think FirstGrass has been officially announced yet. Folks here may be right, we may get Billy Strings. And hopefully he sticks around and sneaks onstage with Dierks and the McCourys later in the evening. :cheers

Billy’s tour schedule has him in Telluride on the 20th, but nothing official has been announced. Take it as you will. Many of us taking it with hope

Did some searching with the same result :huh nothing in print yet… but my fingers are crossed… ps (aufan) glad to hear youll be making it back for another festie!! :cheers

Nothing confirmed, just rumors and some sleuth work being done.

AF - Our very first year at Telluride, GSBG was one of the Firstgrass acts. How crazy that we get to see them at Nightgrass and closing the mainstage every year now?

Maybe Billy’s in that same trajectory? Here’s hoping the rumors are true! :cheers

For what it’s worth on Dierks Bentley’s webpage it lists Billy Strings as opening act on Wednesday 6/20.

Billy is listed on Dierks site as the opener … so AF I believe you said we have tickets so we will see him there for sure! But I agree, Firstgrass is pretty special and I was hoping for some Smokies and Billy there … but I think that rumor led to a dream, that now has me thinking it’s real. Whoever they get, it should be good.

We are glad you are camping with us too. Talked with Bevin yesterday and we pretty much have you styled out! :thumbsup

That’s gonna be a fun ride on the ganjala that Wednesday. :thumbsup

Ah, I get it, tea leaves and crystal balls! Love it

Fingers crossed. And yes we are going to Dierks Passport so how cool!

Skubes, that is wild, our boys used to open at First grass!

I’m pretty sure we are going to get The Lil’ Smokies // Billy Strings for First Grass. I haven’t heard anything definitive, but I can just feel that happening. Maybe we will get lucky and have a possibility of 3 Smokies shows through the weekend!

My fingers and all my toes are crossed for all of this!!! Seems as though the stars may be aligning and we are going to get this magic!! Just walked in the door from seeing David Byrnes American Utopia tour, WOW!! If you can go see this show, one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. Took my 12 year old and he liked it too.

That would truly be epic. I have to admit I thought it might be less well known bands at Firstgrass but I will take that combo!

Adding gas to the rumor fire, but why else would the lil smokies be booked for Nightgrass and not the main stage? A long way to travel from Montana just to play one night at a bar.

And Billy Strings tourdates show TBF 20th and 21st.

:thumbsup

I skipped First Grass last year for camp activities. I wont be doing that this year! There’s going to be come sitting in going on up there, I’m sure.

Oh hecks yeah!!! This just put the icing on the cake for what is sure to be an amazing 45thTBF!!!

WOOT WOOT! :hop
Festiivaaallll!!! :sunshine :clap

Please, they’re not coming from Montana with their touring schedule!

Lol. they’re coming from Chicago, even further away. Unless they stop at home in Montana first . . .
