I’ve spent a little time checking out the posts about Telluride Bluegrass Festival hoping to gain some insight into what to expect for my first time attending this year. Started feeling like a stalker! So, I just wanted to say hi and say how much I am enjoying reading these posts. I feel like I’m already there! I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve got goosebumps! I have wanted to attend for so many years and I’m so excited that this is finally the year. The anticipation is gonna kill me!
:wave
:cheers Good for you! Have you got your tix already? Where will you be staying? The excitement of the first year is hard to put into words…
:wave Welcome :wave Read the forum it can be so helpful and if you have questions lots of folks are here to answer them. Your going to have a great time this June! :flower
This will be my fourth time this year…but I am starting to see an annual pattern forming. You will find out why in June!! Have a blast!
First time last summer, bought tickets yesterday for this summer, and plan to make this an annual event :cheers And now I’m in that “can’t wait for June to get here” mode!
When my bf and I got together he started to get excited about Telluride in December and I laughed by butt off about it.
Now since I’ve gone twice, I get excited in November! :lol
It’ll be my first 19th festival this year, so I know exactly how you feel! The Excitement! The Anticipation!! The BACON!
This is my second TBF - and I’ve been excited since the lottery - and I didn’t even win! I’m already semi-packed and know what I need to buy to complete my ultimate camping pile o’ crap.
Welcome!!!
Enjoy!!!
See you in June!!!
Mel
My goodness Mel… I had no idea you were a virgin last year. Maybe I should have been more gentle. After all you want to break em in easy
:flower
Next year you won’t have to pack Mel. You’ll be like the rest of us and just leave it in a heep next to the front door. Come next June it’s just a scoop, shove and a drive. :flower
Thanks for the baking choc. last year we finally used it all and it was very good. :medal
Prepacked cargo trailer, baby!
I was also swayed by the posts on this forum and I am proud to announce this year will be my first TBF. I look forward to meeting you all.
Wow…we may have to sacrifice more than one virgin this year…it’s a shame to waste 'em when there’s going to be a bumper crop!
Have dreamed of making the trip to Telluride for 38 years and think this might be the year for us. The kids are out of college, the timing is right. I just need to know, does the festival and camping ever sell out ? I’m hoping to get town park camping by watching the board, but would it be wise to buy regular tickets and camping at Mary Ilium or wherever just in case the TP tickets don’t come through? So many questions!
Thanks.
One more thing. Can you drive from Mary Ilium to the festival and park in a designated area on the outskirts of town if need be? Also is the road between the camp ground and festival treacherous?
Negative. You’ll want to leave your car where you’re parked outside of the campground and take the shuttle.
Hey there, Whiskerwind! That was our story last year - waited over 30 years, got the kids out of school and on their own, and finally made the trip to Telluride. We had a wonderful time - people were awesome, music was fun and inspiring, and the weather - well, last year’s weather could not have been better. I guess the best endorsement is that we are returning for our second year, in what we hope will become an annual event for a long, long time. Make your plans and start the countdown to an unforgetable Summer Soltice!
Actually our two kids aren’t on their own yet and will be coming with us! Just so many variables on the best way to do this. We live in Massachusetts. Do you have tickets yet? Where do you stay?
We’re live in Maryland just north of Baltimore. We’ve tried to get our girls to join us this summer, but they have committed to too many weddings and such for friends and family during the summer. We’ve suggested they set aside next summer, and the next, and … Because of the long commute to TRide, we determined that we couldn’t really travel with the camping equipment by air, so instead we found a condo downtown - a bit more expensive than up in Mountain Village, but worth it for convenience and less distance to haul chairs, backpacks, tarps, etc to Town Park. Likely doing the same this year. Just got our tickets in the mail yesterday!!! :cheers
