:wave Hey all. I’m starting a new thread for this years Beer share/tasting gathering. I’ve gathered 17 Oklahoma Brewery special release brews, that I’m really excited to share with yall! :cheers I’ve got some questions for you other beer enthusiasts wanting to participate, and Maybe Tom, and Pass Port can chime in on this.
Would everyone like to aim for Tuesday as the best day to organize this event? If so whats the best time (not in the way of other events)?
The bathhouse is an easy spot, but it sure got warm there quick being in direct sunshine. Is there a better shadier spot to do it? I wouldn’t mind hauling a table over to the falls area and stay a bit cooler. Any other/better ideas?
This year I’m planning on taking notes on the Brews offered, I’ll share the info here so everyone can feed their memory.
I’m always looking for an excuse to work on emptying my cellar, so I will bring some aged bottles plus I’m planning on brewing a beer specially for Telluride this year so I’ll have that as well.
Thanks for organizing this. The beer tasting is one of my favorite pre-festival events. Tuesday is good for me. (I may be driving to pick family up from the airport on Wed.) We have typically gathered at noon, but time can be flexible. I agree about the heat by the bath house, not to mention the beer gets warm. I like the idea of the falls area. It is cool, shady, has ample space, and easy to find. That gets my vote.
Howdy! Let us know if you need anything else to help support this event. We’re Camp Trailer Smash and are right by the falls. We could probably supply a table. I’ll definitely be bringing a bit of our cellar beer - we have a ton and just can’t drink it all ourselves.
Also, we have a bags (cornhole) set. Any interest in wrapping in a tournament or something alongside the beer tasting?
Sounds great. Not sure if a tourney could be organized, but fun and games are always cool. I’ll bring some wooden bar style table top games of chance. Depending how many are coming, last year there were about 25ish that brought multiple brews. We completely filled the little table by the bathhouse, with standing room only around the outside.
Don’t forget to bring a chair, and a tasting glass. I’ve got a few extra plastic ones from different beer festivals I’ll bring for those emptyhanded.
For those of us flying in and not able to bring great beers from home, what’s the best way to participate/contribute? Bring whatever interesting beer we can buy locally? Ice? Bar snacks?
Telluride Brewing offers some great single release beers. Maybe a growler of some TBF, I believe Growler fills are only around 9 bucks. One could borrow one of ours if they need. Snacks are always a good thing.
