A NightGrass Announcment about the Announcment...

:wave everybody.

I know you’re all chomping at the bit to get some NightGrass info, and I finally have SOMETHING to tell you.

We will be making the announcement next week. Stay tuned for the details about the specific shows and when lotteries and such will be taking place.

I can also tell you that we will no longer be offering the All Venue pass for NightGrass.

Keep in mind that this year’s increased demand for tickets will likely carry over into Nightgrass. I’m telling you, the Forumvarians this information but it likely will not be made “public knowledge” till the announcement next week. Anything you do to promote this information only makes the likely hood of people trying for tickets who do not intend to use them increased.

If I were you, I’d keep it our little secret.

I propose all nightgrass announcements be made via a PM to everybody who has posted in this forum in the last three months prior to this post.

but please don’t assume that just because we haven’t posted comments over the past 3 months mean we aren’t reading and following the forum posts; especially around nightgrass announcements :cheers

Thanks for the information!! I have been obsessively checking for some news.
I cannot wait for this year. Thank you for all the work you do!

It is not an assumption, just a suggestion that all actively posting forum users be notified by Private Message. Not really a fair advantage though. :rolleyes

On the other hand, We’re very glad it’s brought you to the point of posting. Nice to see you here! Good luck with your NightGrass Tickets!

:welcome

Here’s hoping for more Drew and Friends!
:thumbsup

:frowning: no AVP? that isn’t happy news, is it? I sure liked mine last year… :huh better be ready for fast clicking…

i like secrets! my lips are sealed. :bag . pm me please if you decide to do that.

I was really hoping to score an AVP. I guess I’ll be doing some of that rapid clicking as well.

Yeah, I REALLY liked my AVP last year too. Here’s to fast fingers and TBT playing at the Sheridan!!

It wont be fast fingers as much as luck of the draw. I’m anticipating at least 3 lotteries this year so hopefully I can score tix to at least one of em. Either way, the lineup is so stacked this year that there will be no disappointments, even if I can’t get all the nightgrass I want. Good luck to all when the time comes! :cheers

I agree with you all, great fest, great company every year, amazing music…we are lucky to live in this great state and have festivals like this - and if we are even luckier - get to see lots of bonus music at NightGrass shows.
THanks to everyone that makes this weekend happen every year

I never tried for the AVP; I don’t worry about much, but the things that I do worry about, I worry about too much. In other words, I wouldn’t attempt to get one because I was always paranoid that the shows I really wanted to see would be the ones where they had reached capacity and would, thus, shut me out. that’s a worry I can avoid with a hard ticket to the show I want to see.

As far as getting those show tickets, I like the lottery system. I think in a perfect world, TBF would just do a lottery for all nightgrass shows, then release for ‘on sale’ all tickets that weren’t allotted that way. Even without a systemized lottery, it’s pretty much turns into a lottery of sorts for certain shows anyway, (particularly Yonder at the Sheridan). It’s a matter of chance whose finger clicks first and whose request makes its way through cyberspace first, except that folks with a slow connection are at a disadvantage. So, yeah, I like the lottery; it’s fair–an equalizer.

Anyway, getting excited like the rest of Yall. Can’t wait to know who’s where when. Hoping for some Fly Me to the Moon Cornmeal!

Okay, we have a four day pass. Is that an AVP? Maybe I should read through all the definition pages before I ask this. Still need to be after getting Nightgrass tickets in the lottery?

And…

Trampled by Turtles, Trampled by Turtles… Yay!!!

Oh and we got a reservation at the Hotel Madeline Telluride. Nice place?

AVPs or all-venue passes are not being offered in 2011. But even if they were, your 4-day pass provides you admission into the festival grounds for the official 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival but not for Nightgrass shows. Nightgrass shows do not require festival tickets but tickets are sold separately on the Planet Bluegrass site (coming soon per the above from Bluegrass Dustin) and performances are held at venues throughout town and in Mountain Village.

You won’t have to Wait So Long!

I don’t love the idea of informing “those who post” first… Because while I am checking on nightgrass info regularly, I seldom post anything.
:eek

Hey all

:wave

I just registered so I can post messages here. I am bringing my family from NYC to the festival. I am psyched big time.
And just like the rest of you I am looking forward to some Nightgrass action. Woohoo!!!

Don’t worry…that’s just wishful thinking by some around here. :lol

We’ll be announcing the lottery/ on-sale information about Nightgrass to all Festivarians.

And we’ll get few days lead-in to the actual sale date, yes? Please?

As you can see, I’m gettin’ nervous. :frowning:

I have a little to add to this…
Yes, Nightgrass tickets are separate from the festival, BUT, if you were to share news about these shows with folks that are not attending the festival there are a few things to consider before doing so.

First of all, where are those folks going to spend the night after the show? They CAN NOT stay with you in your camping space. Have a condo? That’s different. Are they going to reserve a condo or hotel room in Telluride? Okay, but reservations should be made very far in advance of arriving in Telluride. Those folks CAN NOT sleep in their cars after the show. It is against code/the law/policy in Telluride.

Late night driving to and from Telluride should be something done with FULL CONCENTRATION. The musical high, euphoria even, after a Nightgrass show causes many folks to flash back to the venue, the best jam they’ve ever seen, the musical guest that came out of nowhere, for days, weeks and months. Driving after the show is not advised. It’s just a buzz kill. :flight

Along the same line of transportation to/from Nightgrass…
These shows can run long, way longer than the 2 am “last gondola ride to Mountain Village”. Can you imagine driving all the way up to Mountain Village, parking the car, riding the gondola to Telluride, hearing the last set of the fest finishing, getting into the Nightgrass venue, watching the show build to the greatness that is Nightgrass, jamming out like crazy… and then you look at your watch and see that you have 10 minutes to catch the gondola back to your car in Mountain Village… BUT THE BAND IS REALLY GETTING HOT! and I CAN SEE SAM BUSH IN THE STAGE WINGS! and OMG! MUMFORD IS WITH JERRY D. AND BELA! OMG! I have to leave NOW???

Don’t do this to your friends. It’s mean. :evil

As Dustin alluded, the less numbers of folks that know about the Nightgrass shows, the better chance YOU have of seeing the show of YOUR dreams. These are the best dreams of FESTIVVVAAALLL!!! It’s better to keep these dreams to yourself! :thumbsup

Wishing everyone the best of luck with the Nightgrass ticket hunt!

(Disclaimer: Guest musicians are not guaranteed at any Nightgrass show… but it could happen.)
