As we mentioned in the write-up on the NightGrass page… a huge thanks to Yonder Mountain String Band for sliding over to make room for this year’s special Dierks Bentley show at the Conference Center. Yonder’s 16-year run of epic Kick-Off shows remains legendary.
:medal :medal :medal :medal :medal :medal :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :medal Oh man now I really have to go. :cheers I want to hug all you guys and gals. I knew it. God I love this place. Like the BIGGEST HOLIDAY EVER!
Damn, Wood Bros, GSBG and Lil Smokies all on the same night? That’s just mean, I’m going to go for all 3 and be happy with whatever I get.
So Lil Smokies night grass but they are not on the main line-up? Nice. This is really setting up well for the Lil Smokies/Billy Strings First Grass we were envisioning…
Not to mention that Tedeschi Trucks Band is headlining that night. Seems like the rock/jam part of the festival is taking place at the same time. Come on man!
But, don’t forget that Thursday main stage usually ends earlier than Friday and Saturday (around 11 rather than midnite). Still a scramble to catch most of the first set of Nightgrass but doable. :cheers
I cannot tell you how happy this has made me, I cannot wait to get back. Thanks Planet Bluegrass. Must see Greensky…OMG how great is the line up this year?
:wave Feeling like I missed the boat. Though I’ve watched a few youtube videos, I’ll admit I’ve never really sat down and listened to the Lil Smokies. Until this morning. I downloaded a couple shows so I could add them to my TBF playlist. Wow, they are really something. Can’t wait to check them out in person.
They came through Colorado Springs twice in the past few month, first time as part of the Campfire Caravan, and then a second time solo. Lucky enough to catch them both times as they put on a great show. Great young band whose sound is pretty unique and has great original songs. Plus their covers are excellent. If you haven’t seen this its worth watching:
Every year, I see the great Nightgrass lineup and instantly make my plans to attend at least two. But this is when I have to remember that I’M OLD!
Last year, I could barely stay awake for what I thought was one of the best shows I had ever seen: Greensky at the Palm. Then the next night, I was so excited about seeing Red Knuckles. Yet when I walked over to the edge of the Sheradan’s balcony to watch the last few songs, I almost fell asleep. But that would have been horrible as I was able to catch myself before I took a snoring stage dive right onto Red’s lap from the upper deck.
Now I look at this lineup and think, “I can make it! I’ll be good and not have ANY alcohol that day and the Nightgrass show will be easy.”
And yet I know better. No amount of Red Bulls can save me. And the “I won’t drink that day”??? yeah, right. I MUST RESIST!!!
A little bummed Yonder are getting the boot from Wed night. Coming with a bunch of first timers and my first one back in awhile, and the tradition is getting replaced with a new country star. Bummer. Even without Jeff, this is still sad.
