2016 Lineup suggestions

Yeah man - totally agree - Bill with Salmon over the last few years has been amazing, definitely some of my favorite shows across the board. I will really miss seeing LOS with bill and just hope he keeps playing with the band in the future whenever he can!

First of all LOVE LAS LOBOS!!! They would be great!! The Sub Dudes I really like their sound and I do remember when they played Tride way in the day…

I have got to say I am seeing a lot of James Taylor and he is one smooth dude. He is like, liquid… :lol
This vibe he carries is just smooth and easy… still has it. A 2 o’clock set would be dandy… when its hot and we are lazin in the sun.

IS IT JUNE YET??

I love the way you think…agree!

Los Lobos?

:rollin :rollin :rollin :clap :rollin

What? I love their sound… :lol Think out of the box, that could be Ferg’s crowd clincher, HEY THATS NOT BLUEGRASS! Love when he throws a monkey in the wrench.

I got this Ferg… :lol

Nah, it’s Las Lobos. :thumbsup

That other band Los Lobos played Telluride in 2007. I still remember the Bertha into Cinnamon Girl. Damn that was smokin’!

See. I knew you knew what I ment… :lol :lol so funny…

thanks for clearing that up. i have never heard of las lobos

los lobos are one of my fave bands! they are amazing every time i’ve seen them(probably over 20 times now…YES i’m old)

$$$ on Stapleton, Warren, Emmylou, Dead & Co.? Tim O’Brien and Lunasa?? Maybe a last Guy Clark go around?

Ha! You should be part of the Planet team babe

Ha! I am!!! :medal We all are!
However I would love to have the Ferg seat for 1 fest. Give me the budget and we can create the lineup :medal
Ferg for a day. I can dig that! :lol

I got this Ferg. :flower

I think it’s highly likely that we will have Chris Stapleton or Warren Haynes with RRE or possibly both. Barring some kind of scheduling conflict, both would be perfect for this year.

We had Emmylou last year, so she may not around this year. She tends to be an every other year act.

Tim will be there for sure. I’m not familiar with Lunasa, but a quick google search leads me to believe they’d be a good fit.

Guy Clark would be great! Especially if Darrell Scott is there. Guy sang on one of Darrell’s recent albums and I’d love to see them together, even if it’s just for one song. Really, I just think we should have Darrell back.

As for Dead and Company, I doubt it. I think I remember hearing that a big reason the Dead only played Telluride once was that Bobby couldn’t deal with the altitude. I could be completely wrong, but I seem to remember that.

I thought Emmylou’s last visit was with Rodney Crowell at the 40th?

Here’s a good place to start. Take a look at the Grammy nominations for 2016 in these categories:

Best Americana Album
The Firewatcher’s Daughter, Brandi Carlile
The Traveling Kind, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell
Something More Than Free, Jason Isbell
Mono, The Mavericks
The Phosphorescent Blues, Punch Brothers

“All Night Long,” The Mavericks
“The Cost of Living,” Don Henley and Merle Haggard
“Julep,” Punch Brothers
“The Traveling Kind,” Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell
“24 Frames,” Jason Isbell

“And Am I Born to Die,” Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn
“Born to Play Guitar,” Buddy Guy
“City of Our Lady,” The Milk Carton Kids
“Julep,” Punch Brothers

Best Bluegrass Album

Best Folk Album
Wood, Wire & Words, Norman Blake
Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn
Tomorrow Is My Turn, Rhiannon Giddens
Servant of Love, Patty Griffin
Didn’t He Ramble, Glen Hansard

What’s amazing about this list is how many of these artists have recently played Telluride. How many years has it been since Norman Blake graced the Telluride stage? And if PB wants to throw a curveball, I would not complain about seeing Buddy Guy.

No emmylou last year. Its Alisom Krauss’s turn to come.

Given that 2016 will be the opening of the new stage then im assuming a special twist to mark the event.

Definitely some long loved TBF folk but there has to be a twist given there is a brand new stage…

Ps i love the speculation here

This is great! It has made me go order a whole pile of CDs and to start dreaming again. BTW Rhiannon Giddens last year started me on an ongoing love affair with her voice and have since discovered Carolina and the Chocolate Drops as a result. My god, the depth of talent in your country. This list gives me some new ones to explore, thanks.

Agree re Buddy Guy. He is on high rotation at our place. Id love to see Union Station too

I stand corrected. I guess I just assumed she was there because she had been on an every other year schedule for such a long time. Yeah, we’ll probably get her this year then. I’d hope for an appearance with Mark Knopfler, but I doubt that will happen unless they do another album together.

Why not both! Each their own sets and then see where it leads! Guy Clark would be a huge get, I would love that,as well. I can only imagine would might jam in those sets?

You keep pushing for Mark Knopfler Sugar! How about a deal? Mark Knopfler with Ali Krauss AND Nick Cave? :wave :wave

has jerry jeff walker ever played telluride?
