2014 Telluride Bluegrass Festival - What NEW Acts would you like to see perform?

Slightly Stoopid :thumbsup

How about a plug for these guys for the Sunday AM show, the slide Brothers

I’m seeing these guys for the first time tonight. I haven’t heard much yet, but what I’ve heard, I really like.

Sounds like they’ve been heavily influenced by the Grateful Dead to me.

Saw Fruition play in the ATL a few weeks back. They were a tight band and definitely lean toward the GD style. Fruition opened
for Greensky Bluegrass at the show I saw. Probably would have been better if I saw Fruition solo because Greensky was so damn good
that I got lost in their music for the rest of the evening. Greensky is a must see whenever they are close as you all know. Fruition has some interesting vids out there sharing the stage with Greensky if you are so inclined. They cover some LZ together which is quite entertaining. Check it out:

Sting and Paul Simon Will Tour Together…

In the continuing sitcom that is popular music - and also in real life - Sting and Paul Simon once lived in the same building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, they recalled in a recent telephone conversation.

“For 20 years, this guy would be borrowing things all the time,” Sting said, in a tone of mocking complaint. “Then I heard he was a songwriter.”

Mr. Simon responded with similar facetiousness, “As soon as he got a chance, he moved up, hierarchically, into more elite buildings.”

Now these improbable former neighbors are about to become unlikely tour mates. On Tuesday, Sting and Mr. Simon are to announce that they will appear together on a North American tour, during which they will perform several of their best-known songs individually and as a duo. Eighteen dates are scheduled from Feb. 8 through March 16, with additional dates expected to be announced.

The musicians said that they were as surprised as anyone to find themselves on the same bill.

“Paul and I both share this abiding curiosity about music and where it’s going,” Sting said. “We don’t really know where this is going. We don’t really have a clue how this is going to pan out.”

Audiences got an early taste of the potential collaboration when Mr. Simon and Sting appeared together in May at a benefit for the Robin Hood Foundation, where they performed acoustic versions of “The Boxer” and “Fields of Gold.”

“After we finished it,” Mr. Simon said of that set, "we both looked at each other and said: ‘Wow. That’s pretty interesting.’ "

The two singer-songwriters will be backed up by their respective bands on the tour, for which presale tickets will go on sale on Wednesday at their websites, sting.com and paulsimon.com; general sales for most performances, including a March 4 appearance at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, will begin next Tuesday.

The tour has a simple title, “Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together,” not a clever mash-up of their song or album titles. (Though when put on the spot, Mr. Simon suggested “The Sound of Every Breath,” to which Sting responded: “That’s it! You’ve got it.”)

The impetus for the tour, they said, was a spirit of musical exploration and not a music-industry executive who saw dollar signs by combining their fan bases.

“I don’t have any of those guys in my life anymore,” Mr. Simon said. “I’m not even sure I have a fan base anymore.”

“I’m your fan, Paul,” Sting replied.

“There you go,” Mr. Simon said. “Then I’m your fan.”

Fruition would be great! After seeing them open for GSBG, I fell in love with their sound. Great band with lots of energy.

I’d also love to see Gaelic Storm back at some point. They just did a wonderful show in Missoula. Maybe not this year, but some point soon would be nice.

Sounds interesting. Who would of thought Mindy Smith and Dolly P would of ever collaborated but they sound beautiful together… :medal

Gaelic Storm in 2014 would be very nice! :thumbsup

Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green

Deadly Gentlemen, Hackensaw Boys, bring back the Flecktones, Spirit Family Reunion, Fruition, SCI, Railroad Earth, and Thile Daves!

Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott performing “Memories and Moments”

Joy!

I can definitely get behind that. Them two boys know how to make some righteous noises!

That the can! Just saw them at The Festy for the second time, and they are an awesome duo! Bring along the Punch Brothers too again, I certainly wouldn’t mind!

I too can get behind both sets of two righteous :headphones noise makers playing together. :thumbsup
And if P Bros aren’t there, something’s amiss in the Festiforce…just sayin’. :eek
Buddy & Jim also, because two great pairs just ain’t enough? :cheers

I also can’t get over how amazing their two voices are, so different but when they are together…Boom! Magic :thumbsup I feel the Punch Bros are almost a show in to be there in 2014, if not then something is wrong… They say two is better than one

Ha Ha Tonka … They are a great up and coming band out of Missouri / The Ozarks who would fit in great with the festival.

Sike I forgot to add Deer Tick to the mix, been listening to them a lot lately, and their new album is great! Good band to the fest. :thumbsup

Maybe acoustic version? Nice harmony.

Hen House Prowlers

Fruition! Opening for Greensky this month and for Leftover on New Year’s. Great Portland band who you will be hearing a lot from.
