Each year I offer up what has in the past been a somewhat accurate prediction of the weather
for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. This is not a forecast as it’s too hard to determine that far
in advance what the weather will be, so it is only a prediction.

TBF 2013 Weather Prediction
For the week before the festival (June 8 - June 15)
Warm and clear - Chance of rain 30-50%
Winds 5-15 mph with gusts to 25 mph
High temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s Farenheit
Low temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s Farenheit
For the week of the festival (June 16 - June 23)
Warmer with more clouds - Chance of rain 50-70%
Winds 10-20 mph occasional gusts of 40 mph
High temperatures in the upper 60’s to low 80’s Farenheit
Low temperatures in the low 40’s to mid 50’s Farenheit
Bring your rain coat. It will be wetter than last year, but I don’t think it will snow as much.
Be sure your tent doesn’t leak on your bedding or dry clothing.
Just as long as it isn’t so blazing HOT as last year!!! :sunshine
Staying up 'til 3:00 AM (or 4, or 5…) followed by 80+degrees in the tent at 7:00 made for zero sleep last year. Not that I’m planning on sleeping this year either, but it’s nice to have the option anyway.
The only rain I remember in the entire 10.5 days was right when Vince played Rainmaker around 3 am one night/morning… Was anyone else there? It started sprinkling just a little bit while they all played, and when the song was over, the rain stopped… :thumbsup
However, Tom, I hope your rain prediction has a bit of reverse psychology…I really understand the mountains need the rain - especially the San Juans - but it would be nice for it to hold off for that week! I would take some overnight snow though - it’s easier to shake off your tent in the morning!! :lol
Ok- A little rain is ok… about 10-15 minutes a day…LOL Even a ;title squall of grapple or whatever that is. But please no 10 days straight of 50 degrees and colder of rain or snow … I’m still traumatized by 1995 and that pack out 2 years ago… i don’t remember it being that hot last year… It was dry and warm but I don’t remember it being 80 in the mornings? I remember thinking the air temps were the best ever- you could actually enjoy the night jams and not feel ilke you were gonna die…
PS Tom- what is the most amount of snow it has snowed during festival?
A little rain isn’t bad. At least it brings clouds and a break from cooking in the sun! The perfect weather would be one sunny day followed by a cloudy day, with a couple ten minute downpours to keep down the dust and cool us off.
It’s four days of paradise in the end, so the weather doesn’t matter all that much. Perfect weather is just an added bonus.
Lush, green, the rivers will be full and the fishing not so good unless we get a super hot spell before fest to slow the flow. Gonna be beautiful come rain or shine and I think the elements are just another dimension of this Music Adventure…im getting excited and i guess i better hussle but somewhere in me i know things will work out always doo. :flower Get ready for a sensory overload. Gonna be fun!
I need a lawn chair and some good music to set me free.

Sounds like you need better gear. A long rain pocho to keep you dry and the heat in, with a light fleece jacet under is more then enough to stay dry and warm.

Rofl.Landshark. Lite fleece and poncho only? That’s like telling you if you come to Tucson in
June , that 95 degrees is too cool to swim in the pool. Seriously most kids here think 90 and under is too cool for pools.
