YMSB Boulder/Red Rocks

8/1 and 8/2 (with Keller)

SWEET.

Well, this is something that makes me appreciate Planet Bluegrass even more.

Rant Mode On:

I think it SUCKS that you have to purchase a Red Rocks ticket in
order to get a Boulder Theater ticket!! I may be in the minority,
but I’m far more interested in attending the Boulder show than
Red Rocks, so I’m forced to buy both.

Not to mention I’m not a fan of the ticketing services Yonder uses,
which IMHO, exists to make TicketMaster look “good.” I sincerely
believe that because there are many “ties” in the big concert business,
and have been for many years, especially since the prominence
of Clear Channel > Live Nation.

Rant Mode Off:

i agree that it is weak you need to buy both yet i am going to both anyways. my only real gripe is that i was forced to buy a reserved red rocks ticket which is more expensive than the GA. whats the deal with that? i understand the whole we want to guarantee 1000 ticks sold but we saucin us on the RSV is WEAK to the max.

yojo, trust me…that YMSB Red Rocks show will wind up GA!

As for why I do not want to go to the Red Rocks show? Because
much of the crowd at last year’s show was rude! This included:

  • Placing my tarp in one row to reserve a few spots for my friends
and I, only to have some asshole move my tarp to the end of
the row while I was sheltering myself from the rain.

  • Being bumped into constantly by people throughout the show
where I estamated every three out of twenty had anything
resembling courtesy. What ever happened to “Excuse me”?
On that night, what ever happened to manners?

  • One person spilled beer on me, then sneered at me as if I caused the problem.

I can go on and on…and Yonder with drums also didn’t work for me.
It was the first Yonder show – and I’ve been seeing the band
since 2001 – where my friends and I left early (before the encore)
with no regrets.

Sorry if I sound harsh, as while I am happy for Yonder’s success,
I just wished their new audience members had a clue about
consideration for others and their space. Instead, they just
score their latest hit of X and let themselves be as rude and stupid as
possible.

While I have a RR ticket, chances are I’ll be passing it on to one
of my friends, as I will not submit myself to another Yonder-MORON
experience like that again!

Flame me all you want, folks, but an experience like what I just described
only makes me appreciate Planet Bluegrass that much more!

hey trust me i’ll be in line very early, last year we grabbed row 5 and sat in that rain for a couple hours. Thats too bad about all the rude people around you. We had some around us but when they would cramp our space i let them know exactly what i thought and gave anyone a good piece of mind when they showed up trying to slip in unnoticed. They left VERY VERY scared. love it :lol

Wasn’t the front part of seating reserved? Or is the very front GA? If you showed up early to get close, I’m guessing you where in someone elses seat. I’m sorry you felt the need to give other fans a peice of your mind (that they left very scared) when you where the one out of your area. More love - less conflict?

I agree - the crowd was less love and hospitality, and more young, drunk idiots last year. I left prior to the encore as well last year.

Drums didn’t work for me either. I was a huge Phish fan back in the day - but the mix of YMSB and JF was lacking imho. I’m not sure I’ll go this year - but would like to attend the Boulder show. Guess that won’t happen now.

I too enjoy a good BG festival more nowadays. I can’t wait for Rockygrass!

no. GA is the first 20 rows or so. so us waiting 4+ hours for that spot and some ass hopping up there when they missed the first half of ymsb’s first set definitely got a piece of it! :wave (thats a bye bye wave  )
