Martin Sexton, Waillin Jenny’s, Bearfoot :thumbsup
Bearfoot is playing RockyGrass again this year. You can catch them there!
I saw Jeff Black last night with his trio. good stuff. They would be good for Folks.
Jeff is the guy who wrote Same Ol’River, one of Sam Bush’s signature songs. He also wrote Gold Heart Locket which I have heard Sam do. Sam and Jeff will be doing a benefit together next week in Nashville.
any luck getting Sloan Wainwright? How about Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry? Danny Schmidt? I know… i am repeating myself, but those posts are WAY back in the thread.

TOTALLY AGREE WITH FINK!!!
can’t wait to fly my ass out again this year
oh oh oh and Angie Mattson.
after attending last year i have faith and trust in this year being great. i really don’t care who plays when it all comes down to it.
I keep modifying this post, but Haley Bonar kicks ass! Thanks ewl for a list with some new names for me to explore!
since nobody posted yet, here’s another edit…
JON FOREMAN! (winter EP is GREAT, as well as his other releases)
Lots of good suggestions.
Tom Waits - yes, yes, yes
How about Kinky Friedman (and the Texas Jew Boys?) - he would not be puttin anyone to sleep!
The subdudes would be a great rock the place out Fri or Sat night gig
Bonnie Raitt - again yes yes yes
Ricki Lee Jones once again
Serena Ryder, I know she’s been there recently, but she is a great singer with soul and spirit
David Wilcox had some “Big Fun” on stage with the Hot Rize boys several years ago - Do That One AGAIN!!!
Babba Maal would also tear the place up - very high energy
And - thanks for everything y’all have done already!!!
TOM WAITS!!!
please?!?
IMO - Michael Franti is desperately overrated. Spearhead is a youtube alsoran. Maybe evolving beyond the “Somebody Scream!” cheerleading will make MF & SH a band to take seriously.
Thank you! While I respect Franti for his overall messages and off-stage
activities (i.e., visiting Iraq), to me he is far too overbearing on stage!
Bob Marley said the same things far better because he didn’t bash you
over the head ad nauseum! By the time I hear the umpteempth
“HOW YOU FEELIN?!”, by that point, my response becomes “LIKE SH*T!!”
Of course, YMWV and different strokes.

Big Smith (Springfield, MO). They’re fantastic. They put on a great show! Check out their youtube.

Pieta Brown - make it a family affair with Greg Brown.
John Prine
Arlo Guthrie
I guess with the last two, why not aim high. You asked, I responded.
The Gourds!!!
Justin Currie - ex Del Amitri
Tim O’Reagan - ex Jayhawks
Gary Louris - ex Jayhawks
All with excellent solo albums & touring…
I definitely second the vote for Serena Ryder! I also love:
John Gorka
Vance Gilbert
Patty Larkin
and Dar Williams.
By the way, this is my first post here. Hi,everybody.
I would be delighted to see Hot Buttered Rum and to have Matisyahu join us for a late Saturday afternoon jam.
Brett Dennen & Ray Lamontagne?! ( I know Ray was there last year, does that make the chances of him performing this year on existent or should I hold my breath…?
Both were here last year…and won’t be attending again this year.
Brett Dennen will be in Telluride this year, though. :flower
Hayes Carll. Sobebody back me up on this. Check him out on Youtube.
Over the Rhine!! Over the Rhine!!
They’ll be out west this summer and would be a great new addition to the Folks Family.
We would LOVE to see Richard Shindell at the Folks festival! We’ve been coming 11 straight years and love the fest. Richard is so fabulous and would be a super addition to he festival. I know sometimes his music has been played from the speakers at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons during the breaks, but we’d love to see and hear the real thing! Candace from California :wave
Eliza Gylkensen
I liked Venice…Martin sexton is always great! But I think the Nadas from Iowa would rock the mountains! They are AWESOME!!!
His voice sounds like geese farts on a muggy day. And I absolutely love Leo Kottke.
