Hey now! Greg Brown’s available nearly the whole month of August (according to pollstar). It’s been far too many years since we’ve heard his deep growl at RMFF! I would love to hear him sing “Cold and Dark and Wet.”
Kerrville, Telluride and Rocky Mtn. Folk award winners, Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald. Not sure how long ago they won at Telluride. They have been performing for about 25 years … maybe more. i have no recollection of ever seeing them anywhere. Worthy of consideration, for sure.

Pollstar is listing Chris Isaak for Sunday Folks Fest. However, Pollstar has been wrong before.
I just got word that Danny Schmidt was a winner of the NewFolk contest at Kerrville. :medal Danny was among the suggestions I made back at the beginning of this thread.
check him out… if it’s too late for this year, there is always next year.

I know it’s probably too late for this year, but how about Jeff and Vida. They would be an awesome fit IMHO. They play a nice mix of folk/bluegrass/americana. I just saw them lastnight and they friggin rawked!!!

Can we start talking about the lineup for Folks 2008 already? Seems that the number of festivals is growing by leaps and bounds. With only so many weeks in Festival Season… there is competition in every region. Surely getting the ideal lineup is getting harder and harder. I know that some will have to be booked well in advance… and there may be others who don’t commit more than a year away.
However… I just want to say three acts to try to start booking now.

There are others who would be great on the Folks Stage… Kenny White is one of them. I saw that he is listed for the Moab festival this year in November. Sloan played there last year. Maybe November works well for being able to get who you want… so PLEASE … whoever is looking and booking for next year’s Folks… look at those three ASAP. … before they get grabbed up by other festivals.
