Headlamp. It’s all about the headlamp. It keeps you from making a very serious and possibly life-altering mistake when you are stumbling around in the dark, looking for your tent and tent-mate after the festival. :lol :lol :lol :lol

headlamp is definately required.
eeeewwww hate when people put the lid down in public restroom. why would you do that and put the next person(girl anyway) thru having to get the lid back up. yuck!! :rolleyes

You put the lid down so that fumes that accumulate in the pot vent through the pipe out the top of the porto john…

Leave the lid down when you leave
ALWAYS sit down or squat over the big hole
Boys pee in the basin on the side if you have to stand up
Leave nothing but your shit or urine in the porta john
Put down the lid when you leave
Wash your hands before you eat.

I get why, but i still hate fighting the lid trying not to touch & put it up. all the while doing the pee dance. yuck!!
I’m with you here…it’s a topic for discussion, I think… I get leaving the seat down… I understand the reasons, but like you said …eeewww… and, well, some times you need to go quick …like gotta’ go right now… and that extra lifting the seat step is pushing it… especially at night, ya’ know?

After so many years at TBF I think my #1 item is a good, comfy nest to catch some shut eye for a few hours every night. I’ve gone from my first TBF with a crappy 40 degree bag and no pillows to last year with a nice 0 degree down bag (yes I get cold easily), two sleeping pads, two pillows, AND a quilt. Man I was so comfy!
Other essentials, many mentioned already, are:
Headlamp
Beanie for the chilly nights
Emergen-C for rehydration and overall wellness :cheers
Sandals of some sort
SUNSCREEN
Hydration pack
Quarters for showers
The rest just sort of works itself out!
