What are your best TBF memories?

:thumbsup :cheers

Still and always will be Mr. Johnny Cash. WOOOF! :lovedr

The festi-virgin challenge was tons of fun. Right in the middle of Rum Balls. I had to do some unthinkable things to win, but I’d do them again in a heartbeat!

Oh… wheels turning… maybe we need to have sort of TP survivor game…LOL

:thumbsup You’re welcome. :cheers

While we’ve been festivating and reading forums for a few years, I think this is my first post. A combination of Spring weather, a visit to the forums to see what’s new and a random Solomon Burke song on my iPod brought that amazing 2008 Sunday morning to mind. I had listened to his music for years but had never seen him live and then, in the morning no less, there he was. The amazing, one-of-a-kind, groundbreaking, soulful, gospel-ful, country-ful Solomon Burke. 10,000 people a day will each have their crystal-clear moments of beauty and magic but, for me, That was my moment.

June can’t come quicky enough this year!

I loved how Robert Plant, one of the biggest names in music, was humble enough to let Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and Darrell Scott (my personal favorite) each lead a song during his set. It was so cool to see the respect he had for his band.

I think it was 2001 or 2002 during the YMSB set. Some guy climbed one of the giant pine trees behind the stage all the way to the top. I am not sure if the band knew what was happening or not, but the entire audiance was cheering him on. This is just one of the pictures that stays in my mind from the many TBGF’s.

Putting faces to all the names…

That was great! Thanks Gapple!!! :medal

Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green

At my first festival, 2008, I was in line to get my poster signed by Hot Rize after their set. The dude in front of me had a Red Knuckles and the Trail Blazers shirt he was getting signed. When he got to the table, he asked the band if they would sign it as their alter egos. One of them, I think it was Pete Wernick, but I’m not 100% sure said “Of course! I wouldn’t put my actual name on this shit!” :lol

:thumbsup That was fun to watch, thank you! Getting close to Fest time now. :medal

That was fun to watch, I’ll see you all there at 9am! Assuming I get a full nights sleep…if I don’t…well then I’ll see you at Fly me to the moon at 2am. :lol

nice composite. I also like that ‘Packin’ for Telluride’ came up as the next video on auto play

2 years ago when Lyle Lovett took the stage there were so many musicians on stage with him they were practically falling of the stage. Such a class act!

EVERY single one of them!!! :cheers

My favorite TBF memory is my virgin trip to bluegrass festival in 1991…camping up mill creek, getting snowed on and listening to the wierdest wildest twangiest music I had ever heard!

It stole my heart and tossed it into the mountain sky breathless I return every year and get high!

Another from my first voyage to Telluride (2008). Tim’s solo set was so fantastic. All those instruments sitting out on stage, as Tim said, it looked like the band forgot to show up. Also, right when he picked up the banjo, he jokingly said he shouldn’t be playing the banjo at a festival with so many great banjo players in attendance. Such a great set. Only 10 days until I take off!

Is that you Julie? looks like you in the picture. Gonna be at fest this year?

Digging around for my Fest gear today :medal and I had the funniest flash back to one of the very first TBF’s I ever attended in the late 80’s.
I got on the bus after the last set and I looked way down at the end of the bus to that long bench seat in the rear and what do I see? Two guys with Mexican Ponchos on and Mexican hats, very drunk, drooling and sleeping sitting up. :lol
And I yell out hey Matt is that you? And he looks up and sure enough, Matt from years ago and his side kick of which I knew as well. Very funny night. :cheers
