If anyone knows anyone that can pull some visa strings please let this be the time.
Lala and Dayton need your help!
These kids deserve our help in gettine Lala “official” so that she can get to TBF and they can be married. Please see what you can do.
It’s just another example of the magic of TBF!
You guys are crazy!!! :eek :eek :eek
I don’t know if this even possible, but the fact that you’ve thought of it and posted it, it’s just too kind and sweet for words :medal :love :kiss :hug
I’m still young and I haven’t seen much, but one thing I’m sure of, I’ve never before or since met such a wonderful, well-meaning, kind-hearted and genuinely fun bunch of people :flower
And I’ll never say it enough: thank you for having this forum, that made my (Telluride) Bluegrass dreams come true, and introduced me to my future husband, and changed my life :thumbsup :cheers :medal :hug
yeh, that is such a kind gesture uselessjoe, and if anyone does know any immigration officers that are also bluegrass fans, tell them me and lalagay would love to make their acquaintance at telluride this year! so, whatever they gotta do, go ahead and do it, and we’ll see them there!
and thanks also for the forum and telluride :cheers. it has definitely changed my life too… met the woman of my dreams who i cant wait to spend my life with :love, saw the most beautiful piece of land in this great country of ours :medal, and attended the honest to god grandaddy of all festivals :oconnor.
in a word… heen :clap!
Given my Washington, DC location let me know if I can help in any way (going to offices, moving paper, etc). I want to see a Telluride wedding!!! :thumbsup
I don’t have any insider connections, but I just want to say it’s about time a newly beloved couple got married during Bluegrass! Giles and I did it back in 1998 and there’s something about the festivarian family that makes every year an incredible anniversary party for us! Same thing happened to Ron and Deb, too. Congratulations, Lala and Dayton! Welcome to the world of long-term love! :thumbsup
I think the title to this thread should be changed to Immigration help… Visa help sounds like someone needs help with their credit card…LOL
You know I was about to write something similar- we need to get them there.
Hi-
Unfortunately, I don’t have any connections either.
After a quick bit of research, however, I’m wondering- are you applying for a K-1 (fiancee) visa (which doesn’t seem to take as long) and worrying about the conversion to a spouse later?
If not (and I could easily be missing something)- you may want to go that route, as you may be able to apply via the consulate in the UK.
Not trying to be nosey, just trying to make sure your bases are covered in the quickest way possible.
Regards,
:cheers

Hi AnythingAtAll! :wave
Thanks for the sound advice :thumbsup We are indeed applying for a fiance visa, and the average processing time is 6 months. Considering our paperwork is only just complete, 6 months from now is end of August
I (we) really appreciate you taking time to look into this and come up with some positive solutions, it’s such a wonderful feeling to be in contact with such great folks! :hug
You guys make me so happy and proud to have made Telluride my festival choice last year, which turned my first trip to the US (and first bluegrass fest) into a life changing experience! :eek :cheers
So thank-you thank-you thank-you for being you! :medal
Lalagay so I guess if you can’t make Tride perhaps you should consider the other GREATEST BLUEGRASS FEST Rockygrass at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch here in Lyons CO :medal Stellar lineup as well my sweet :flower
how bout’ some kind of work visa? i know a few kids that live in telluride…
Good idea, but last I heard all work Visa’s for folks from the UK have been suspended. Keep those idea’s coming though. We’re bound to hit on something!
Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green
Thanks guys for all the thoughtful suggestions! :cheers
However, I think I need to clarify the issue a bit here: The fiance visa is currently in progress, and we are applying for one because me and Dayton want to get married and live in the US together, not for US immigration or visit purposes. I could come visit as a tourist anytime, it’s not that I have issues with entering the US, it’s just that the man I love just so happens to be American!
So we only have ourselves to blame, as the fiance visa is a conscious decision, and we knew that if it hadn’t been authorised by June 2010, I wouldn’t be able to attend TBF since I can’t enter the country while it’s in the process. We’re just trying our luck! :lol
If I get that little piece of paper allowing me to enter the US and marry Dayton in 3 and a half months, and we manage to get out to Colorado and celebrate with you guys at TBF, it would be AWESOME! But it’s more than unrealistic, and we both know that.
I love the fact that you’re all scratching your heads for us, I think it’s just soooo sweet of you :flower
But don’t worry too much, there’s only so many miracles than can happen in a lifetime! I’ve already found Dayton and TBF, the rest is just pushing it…
:thumbsup :hug
Ok, now you are forcing us to get really creative. Making us pull out the big guns!
Fine! I know a guy on 16th and K who does awesome passport work. Get it? The only question is your name since he’s already downloaded your picture and it’s in the template ready to go.
If I don’t hear from you in 1 hour, your new USA passport will be in the name of…
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
LaLa…are you kidding??? Don’t you read the news? The US boarders are about as secure as an entrance to Walmart…except without the surveillance cameras and an old man greeting you with a look of distain. We can easily arrange you a ride to TBF via a van or small truck if you don’t mind sharing it with 18 other people (probably also trying to get to TBF). There’s no point going the legal route because our government employees get every single holiday ever invented off of work.
You are going to be a beautiful Bride Lalagay, no matter where and when.
You know even if you don’t get to fest you should still get married in Tride. The waterfall would be such a surreal place to have that first kiss as husband and wife… :kiss
I’m pullin for ya :flower
WHAT WAS I THINKIN’ LALA??? Have you been to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons CO?
It is what weddings are made out of, just stunning grounds.
Trees so big you can’t wrap your arms around them, a beautiful red sandstone wall of trees and birds, a cool river, flat, open.
A gourgeous place for a wedding and lots of great fests to hit just before during or after.
M
When I marry Elvis I’m gonna get married there. :flower
Yeah that’s what I’m talkin about. So pretty …yeah me and Elvis.
:lol :lol :lol :lol
I was starting to miss your humor Hooch!
And BillyBeru, seriously, DON’T DO IT! :eek :lol :lol
I will be following the straight and narrow way unfortunately, I can’t afford to take risks with something as precious as this, you never know what kind of crazy thing they could turn down our visa application for, and that possibility is just a thought banned from my mind :huh
So thanks for the crazy resourcefulness, but I’ll stick to the legit route! :flower
As for location, location, location Miki, I know and you know that would be AMAZING, but the Planet Bluegrass Ranch is definitely beyond our means…
Unless, Dustin, the ranch includes the bluegrass bands, beer tent and happy festivarians in their fee?!? :eek :lol That would definitely be worth saving up for
Nah, waterfall in TP with Alison Krauss as the after-party is probably my personal heaven, but it’s not in the cards for us I don’t think.
I’m not bitter about it, I’m just happy to even be able to imagine something so sweet :thumbsup
You have alot of wonderful things to plan for either way. But you and Dayton will be missed. :cheers
