Was just thinking about this Hippie! … since Clarks is also in the midst of a major expansion / renovation.
The Village Market is currently totally closed (unknown eta on completion) and Clarks is in the midst of a “shuffle” whereby everything from the old section has been moved into the completed new wing while they finish remodeling the old section. However, the new wing is considerably smaller than the old section and aside from produce / meat / deli, they only have a fraction of what they normally would carry. Likewise, the logistics of only two temporary check out registers have caused major backups at key times (immediately after school ends or after 5pm) … and this is without the stress of a major festival.
So, what I’m driving at is that if neither the Village Market or Clarks completes their projects before bluegrass, I would HIGHLY recommend stocking up on everything you need in Montrose, Durango, Cortez, or Moab … unless you enjoy a shopping experience which mimics what it might be like in Florida with a hurricane approaching. Seriously, it’ll be THAT bad!
Hopefully, at least one will cross the finish line in time & it’ll at least be tolerable.
Yeah, one can always go to the TMV market, either way it’d be a bit of a hassle.
Hopefully, one of the markets in town will cross the finish line in time … I’m sure they’re both well aware of the financial ramifications which are at stake.
Beautiful walk through town to gondola house, beautiful ride over the mountains, free ride by the way, amazing views rain, snow or shine, shop and reverse the process!
FOM, we are on vacation in your paradise. Nothing is a hassle. :thumbsup
Unless you can’t walk that far.
I’m not even sure if my scooter can make it to Clark’s and back on a charge and I doubt if I can get it on the gondola.
Finally got a peek inside the Village Market today … looks like everything is stripped down to the concrete and metal walls/roof. Not sure what they have planned as far as timeline for bluegrass, but clearly there’s a good ways to go. Taken earlier today:
On a related note re: construction: I also had a chance to check out the new pool and bathhouse … the latter of which is open and fully functional … the pool itself doesn’t look far behind.
On the men’s side there are 5 showers @ $3 per 5 minutes (I’m assuming it’s for hot water and cold is still free). Three urinals and three stalls. There’s also a small / decent sized changing area with benches in between the shower area and other bathrooom facilties. Nothing extraordinary, but it’s new and seems to be a nice setup. The pool is definitely impressive compared to the old one … several notches larger in scale on all fronts. Hard to explain, but the llayout of the new bathhouse and pool makes it seem like a “real park district pool” setup … vs. the previous config being smaller & more haphazzard. With several back issues, it’s actually very enticing now to get a season pass for rehab exersizes. Will post some pics soon.
Spoke with a cashier @ Clarks on Sunday who answered “two weeks” when I asked for an eta for completion of the remodel … which is great news.
As promised, a few photos of the new pool & bath house - which is integrated into the pool layout along the side. They were filling up the pool the other day, so probably getting very close.
The last is a pasque flower taken on 4/7/15 in Ophir … by far the earliest bloomer & they somehow managed to survive even after getting repeated snowed on 6-9" per blast.
