Town Park Newbie

Not quite a newbie- I was at the 5th & 6th TBF (still have the t-shirts) when I was BLM’n in G-Springs and Montrose; 1st time back. Then, I rolled into Town Park and threw my sleeping bag on the ground next to my truck. A little different now, so I have been scouring the threads since we got TP tix to figure out the routine. We’ve been to many Nor Cal fests, so get the idea of fest camping, established camps, etc… Here’s my plan, do I have it right?

  1. Get there hopefully Monday, maybe Tues; look for a spot, ask around.

  2. Unload bacon, beer, rolls of quarters, and all the camp-festi gear that will fit. Pop-up type shade is not space hogging, cause it shades the neighbors too.

  3. Stake, weight, tie, weld everything down so it doesn’t fly away.

  4. Maybe leave for a nite to see some of So. Co.; not frowned upon, just let the neighbors know what’s up. Return with more bacon.

  5. Festivate.

Any holes in this plan? Whats the ice situation, will I wish I had a bike?

Just add in a few more bacon runs…

When you arrive give all your bacon to me personally to hold for you until it’s needed.

Ice is available to purchase near the main bathrooms.

Come by camp Run-A-Muck for a shot of Crunchy Frog…if you dare!

Can’t wait to try the NEW & IMPROVED CRUNCHY FROG - now with more ribets!

As for ICE, there are even young teen boys who will take orders and deliver ice to your campsite…Come see Alex and Matthew camped in the pop-up across from the main bathrooms.

:thumbsup
Bikes are a great thing to have, but if room for all the bacon makes it an issue, Jailhouse has a couple you may borrow. I have an original Fisher That will take on any of the trails or just a trip to town. :thumbsup
Just swing by the Jailhouse and say “Hey”. :cheers
Welcome back!

:thumbsup Welcome home… :flower

Watch out for Hooch, he has plans for your bacon and it probably includes vodka. Better to keep it close. I’m looking forward to seeing you all.

:peace

OK, I’ll watch out, but that guy who PM’d me about being in charge of Beer storage, he’s legit, right?

:medal :medal :lol :cheers very funny… :cheers

JimmyJ, I think you will feel right at home again. Beer, Bacon, Crunchy Frog, shade. I think that covers it. The ruins down Cortez way are nice and a good day trip. See ya soon. :flower

Holy crap…I’ve become predictable. heavy sigh

It all depends on exactly where he is planning on :quote Storing :quote it.

:peace

Wow… I had the Crunchy Frog at RockyGrass last year and it was killer… but of course I hope to see you again and get to try it a second time! It really is true that everyone is so friendly and welcoming in the festival world. Can’t wait for Telluride!

Huh? Nobody wants Crunchy Frog a second time!! That’s crazy talk!

Aaaaahhhh Crunchy Frog    My first alcoholic beverage in Town Park last year, the first night of my first TBF fest… Aaaaaaahhhhh such memories :sunshine :band :dancing :drunk
Can’t wait to come back! I’ll be missing you guys this year :frowning:
JimmyJ: welcome back! You’re gonna have such an awesome time with these guys! :cheers

Ya know, I’m sick and tired of you Brits showing up, being all friendly and lovable (yet pale with a jacked-up accent), then leaving and never coming back. First it was Sam and Sam, then you and Lenny and Mark. You guys suck! No wonder we seceded from your country and formed our own fun and tanned statehood! You are like a big country of teases!! It’s like having a prom date who leaves the dance with someone else just like that movie…which I can’t remember. It may have had Molly Ringwald in it. Or another 80’s chick. Hard to say now. My point is that if you don’t come back next year you will never get Crunchy Frog again, which your doctor may approve of but I don’t! Besides, we all have to die of something. You can only hope your eulogy is as funny as someone saying, “She was done in by ‘The Frog’”.

hey hey Jimmy J! :wave I too was at those early festivals, so I hope we get to talk while you’re here. Your plan is just as it should be; don’t change a thing.
And ignore all these “know-it-all” types trying to give you a hard time. :drunk Leave them to ME. ha ha
Welcome back home. It’s been a while, but once you get here, you’ll feel like you never left. I imagine in your heart, you never did. :cheers :hug

Ha ha! If you think I’m never coming back you’ve got another thing coming Hooch! :eek :lol :lol
I’m sorry but you’re not going to get rid of me that easily! :flower Me and Dayton count on coming back for 2011, and having THE best newbie-returning celebration you’ve ever seen! :cheers And the year after that, and the year after that, and the year after that…
And when I can afford it, I’ll fly my whole family over, mum and dad and sister and brother! Yep, the full British bluegrass invasion! And THEN you’ll be sorry you befriended me in the first place! :lol :lol :lol
No, seriously, we’re only missing out this year (and it’s been heart-wrenching, I can tell you), because of strictly unmovable immigration laws.
When I left last year, all I could think about was coming back. I just avoid visiting the forum too often because it breaks my heart to hear about all the fun we’ll be missing out on. AND because of Alison Krauss. Enough said.
If there’s a place that my heart calls me back to, it’s Town Park at TBF.
You haven’t seen the last of me :wave
Now carry on with the festipreping :flower

We’ll be festivating as if you were here, and look forward to next year my sweet. :flower
You’ve become a member of our family and will be year after year. :thumbsup

Thanks Tom :hug
I look forward to the 2011 reunion :cheers
