Looks to be an early monsoon season heading to western Colorado…thankful for the anticipated rain to help deal with some of these fires. It’s SO dry out here :burn
Rain would be good. Monsoons bring wind; wind blows over tents, tarps, messes with the sound tower and speakers, cause flash floods. Monsoons make it hard for the fire fighters and aircraft to do their jobs. Monsoons cause mudslides in the burn area. Not good. Perhaps you don’t remember what happened after the Missionary Ridge fire? Today is the anniversary of the start of the fire, 4th largest in CO history at 71,000 acres. https://goo.gl/images/JWgPf9
We have good info from a firefighter who posted on the wild fire thread. We will not be under Stage 3 restrictions, only Stage 2. Here is a link to the County site.
The main difference from past years is no smoking outdoors and no liquid fuels like white gas or kerosene. You need to cook with pressurized gas like propane or isobutane that has a cut off valve on the tank.
Hope that helps. Much better than what I thought this morning.
I predict that there will be some type of weather. Come prepared to cover your body in some fashion with appropriate clothing. Complete lack of clothing is only encouraged for those who actually look good naked (not you, Hippie!)
