Sorry but I DO NOT WANT IT TO SNOW. we are going for summer, you know, t shirts, shirts, bathers, sunscreen…come on you crazy North americans, get with the program, we like hot hot hot hot. Defiantly not packing snow gear.
If it gets really chilly I will put on a puffer jacket but I’m going to be very disappointed if it comes to that. We are leaving winter to come to summer, ergo, we do not want another winter.
So, please Mayor, can you just make sure it’s nice and sunny? Thanks :wave
If all you bring is a light puffer jacket you will be very sorry and cold. The nights are cold sometimes very cold. So if this is your plan bring extra cash as you will be buying a winter coat. Just hope it doesn’t rain then it’s cold in the day as well as night, not kidding about this.
Don’t worry, I travel a lot for my job, I have thermals, boots, skins and down coats…I just DO NOT WANT to wear them in summer…but I will if I have to ( slightly pouting face). I’m a summer person, live for the beach and sunshine. But I will go anywhere for fabulous music, even cold, dark, grey freezing cold

—and we have had festivals that included rain, hail, snow and sunshine all within 2 hours of each other…really…But we keep coming back year after year after year :lol
The TBF clearly enjoy’s the “pole position” as far as the odds go for good weather re: it’s slot in the overall summer calendar. I’m sure Blues and Brews (mid Sept) would change spots in a heartbeat; they’re FAR more likely to get cold rain and snow (and crazy mud). Likewise, Jazz Fest had even recently tried moving from their traditional Aug slot to one earlier in the summer - hoping to escape the inevitable monsoon rains (of course it didn’t work and they’re now back in early Aug). If vending machines can charge more for a soda when it’s hot out, the Town of Telluride could be justified in charging PB more for the summer solstice slot simply on the basis of the likelihood for good weather. I don’t think it works that way, but just saying.
Having said that, we’ve been extremely lucky the past 5 years or so for weather … so almost seems like we’re “due” for something. Hopefully, it won’t be the case, but it never hurts to be prepared to ride it out and make the most of things if necessary.
Of my twenty seven TBF the weather only one year played a real factor in my opinion. That was in 2002 with all the wildfires around, you felt like you were in a tinderbox with only one road in and out. The smoke left you with a bad cough for a couple of weeks. Rain or snow would have been most welcome that year. Other than that you learned that if you are prepared for what ever the mountains throw at you that you’re going to have a great time regardless of the weather. Four weeks from today camps will be going up regardless and it will be good. For someone who’s life is totally controlled by the weather as to what I do most days, at Telluride or other festivals it’s at most a small factor in my enjoyment factor.
