The coffee Man has tickets to Folks Fest

I will set up in Meadow Park as usual. Hope to see you there for a free cup of coffee.

Please consider volunteering to help. The job gets bigger every year and I get older every year.

Great to hear Richard! Will see you there.

Mssr. Coffee Man: I’m not a fan of faceblat, but I am a fan of coffee. This will be my first Folks Festival, and it’s just me so my time is pretty flexible - what kind of help do you need?

Dan

Thanks for your interest. I need people to work from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. making coffee and cocoa, hauling water and ordinary clean up duties. I also need set-up help Tuesday and Wednesday and take-down help Sunday. The hours are bad and the pay is worse. But everyone who has ever worked for me swears they had a good time. And you get all the coffee you can drink–but so does everybody else.

There is no sign up list and no commitment is required, but I do appreciate it when volunteers stay for the whole shift. The bottom line is that if you show up at 7, I’ll put you to work. If you show up late, I’ll give you a free cup of coffee. Even if you don’t want to volunteer, drop by for the free coffee and chat. I won’t be hard to find.

I currently have tix to camp on-site, but I’m still considering alternatives (such as Meadow Park) while I still have time to exchange tix. I was hoping to camp a bit earlier than Thursday night, hence my interest in Meadow Park, but my plans are still very fluid.

In either case, I understand Meadow Park is only a short walk from the PB Ranch, and I’m rarely asleep past 5 AM, so my final choice of camping area really doesn’t come into play. I’m currently planning on leaving Iowa on Saturday, August 8th, but I have family and friends in Wyoming and in the Denver area that I might visit along the way, so I’m not certain when I’ll arrive in Lyons, but if it looks like I’ll be arriving Tuesday or Wednesday, I’ll let you know and help with set-up in any way I can.

Looking forward to meeting you and whole lot of other new people!
Dan

On-site camping is a little too busy for me. I need to get to bed by midnight or so and they don’t stop partying on-site until the wee hours. BRING EAR PLUGS if you expect to sleep.

Meadow park is much more laid back and it is the perfect place for families, kids and old folks like me. There is some campground picking, but it is more subdued than the on-site campground. Bring a bicycle if you camp at Meadow Park, it will come in handy. Everything is within walking distance, but bikes save time.

I will be driving in from the Targhee Festival in the Tetons. I will arrive Tuesday morning, and try to be set up for operation Thursday morning. Operating hours are 7 a.m. to 9+ a.m. Bring your own cup!

And thanks again for your interest. This is a volunteer operated free coffee shop. It won’t happen if I can’t get volunteers to help me with free labor. It is not hard and it is fun, but it is more than one old man can handle.

Good information - thanks. I may take a serious look this weekend at switching to Meadow Park. I’m looking for a laid-back experience, so maybe Meadow Park is a better choice for me. And… for a newbie like me, volunteering at your coffee stand sounds like a great way to say “hey!” to a lot of people.

Switched to Meadow Park - seemed like the best choice for me, mostly because I expect to be there to set up camp as early as Monday or Tuesday…

Question about “fires” - does that include propane stoves, or just “open” fires?

Thanks,
Dan

propane camping stoves are fine.

:cheers

Excellent. Thank you!

:thumbsup

I plan to be around for the whole week too and more than willing to help with set-up / strike and daily chores as I’m generally an early riser…once I manage to buy my tickets!! As Dan says, it seems a good way to meet people, but being a Brit I may well bring my own tea bags… :cheers :lol

Update: TICKETS BOUGHT!! See you there
