Tent... how big?

So, my wife bought me a new tent for my birthday, it’s pretty big.
Here it is…

Does this look like it’ll be too big for the spot i’ll get onsite at rockygrass?
I don’t want to show up and not be able to pitch

I’ve looked through the site, but haven’t found anything that tells me what size of a tent I can put up.

Any thoughts?

While we don’t have any “rules” about tent size…that one is probably a bit excessive for just the two of you.

The trick is to not take any more room than you need/ are going to use or share.

An 8-10 person tent for two people is a bit much.

Thanks Dustin… I do have two kids coming too.

But… I understand the sentiment of the response, and I appreciate it. We will plan accordingly.

:wave Hey nice of you to consider tent size. Here are my thoughts, head room to stand up is key, but keep it tight and pull in your space if you can. Target has a great tall tent with a smaller foot print, perfect for a family. Not high end but perfect for fest.

Don’t forget yer red wagon to pull all your crap and kiddos in. I really want a red wagon this summer :lol :lol

Tall and tight, that’s how big :flower

Bring some shelter. Depending on where you are/when you arrive, you might want some shade. Don’t forget good stakes that are easy to pull out - an afternoon shower can chase a nice little blow and I’ve seen some folks running after a tent or two.

For you and your family I don’t think it’s too big at all. If it rains you will be glad to have a dry space to be in and you can keep most of your stuff inside and better organized that way.

Thanks Cindy…

Next question for anybody that cares to answer…
Is there room at a site to put a tent up and a shade canopy to jam under in case of crappy weather?

I’m not thinking of something quite like this… but you get the idea…

There are quite a few EZ Ups like that one at RG.

There’s a reason some of us choose to camp at Olsen each year. One being, you’re not nearly as crammed as the other 2 official sites. I’m not saying be a land baron, but there’s no reason you can’t put up your larger, more comfortable tent. And… an ez-up for shade? That’s a no brainer. It is… the end of July. :sunshine

I would say if your camping in Olson or Meadow Park… your tent is fine and there usually is plenty of room. Just get there early and stake out your spot. On sight… its two big.
