Telluride for the first time

Hello everybody. Coming to Telluride for the first time, all the way from Germany, we’re thinking of where to stay the days before. Is there some place in or arround Denver, where the plane arrives, one should stay or go to? Looking forward to here from you!

:wave Nothing much around the Airport, but lots to do while in Denver. What do you like to do? I myself would hit the trails or museums, Red Rocks, etc.

How many days before? There are folks camping in Town Park from June 9th on. There are a lot of different things - hikes etc - that people do in Telluride.

There’s all sorts of gorgeous state parks and National Monuments. Are you renting a car?

I know there were other threads about great drives and scenic routes. Red Rocks is beautiful.

Thanks for the answers, yes we rent a car and will arrive in Denver on June 14th. Maybe we should go to Telluride straigt away

Yes you should. Don’t even stop for Gas, just kidding. That’s land rush day. You need to check out the thread for pre-fest activity schedule. A lot of the fun happens during that week.

There is a lot of really beautiful country between Denver and Telluride. I am not a city person, so my advice would be, take that car and head straight for the mountains! Arrive in T-ride the day your campground opens (or the night before) but otherwise enjoy the trip.

What is your lodging or Camping area in Telluride for the FESTIVVVAAALLL!!!

Auntie Hope :pickin

We were lucky and got a ticket for the Town PArk Campground :thumbsup

You will have a GREAT time! Definitely get to Telluride right away! Get set up and then decide if you want to take day-trips to the surrounding areas or just take in Telluride.

There is a lot going on in Denver. Some say it’s an up-and-coming American city. If wanted to see something of the Denver area while you’re here, you might want to stop in the LoDo area of downtown Denver for a meal, or check out the new Denver Art Museum. A short trip up to Boulder would be worthwhile, too, if you’re not into central cities or you find the time.

If you make a bee-line for Telluride and you have some time in the prefest days, I think that near-by Mesa Verde is one of the most spectacular sites in the US.

There’s lots to do and see out here! :wave You can’t go wrong!

I am a newb aswell but from what I have read it sound like there is more than enough stuff going on before the festival in telluride, I also think you can camp out in town park before the festivities begin
