you’ll be happy there. we were festivirgins last year and stayed at Ilium. it’s worth it for the fire. the only drawback is a bit of a wait for the shuttle, but you meet some great folks that way.
Whoohoo! My first post! New blood here :wave, true festivirgin who is bringing two more virgins from VA. My wife Kerry, daughter Lotus and I will be staying at Mary E. and are looking forward to meeting all of our new friends :cheers!!! We are sooo excited :hop and cannot wait for June!
Hey DB, Welcome to the TBF Forum! Tell me, how old is Lotus? There are some pretty cool kids that truly have been every year of they’re lives and were my tour guides that first year. The twins & Ally pretty much rule the roost for fun and know the ropes and shortcuts from A to Z. And of course, there is Sam, the wise and all knowing Sam the Man. :thumbsup
There’s also some pretty cool 20 somethings that we wouldn’t trade for the world!
Thank you very much for the welcome :thumbsup! Lotus is a very active four years old, turning five in Sept. She is going to be a blast out in Telluride and is already very amped about coming out. All she talks about right now is great big mountains. We’re really looking forward to meeting and establishing some life long friends out there this year and appreciate any helpful hints as and TBF virgins would :)!
Hi all! :wave We are also festivirgins! My husband and I will be coming out with our will-be 5 1/2 yr old daughter and 18-mo old son. SO excited! I’ve read all of the older posts, so thanks to everyone for their great advice! We’ll be camping at the High School. We look forward to meeting the other families out there!!
I have a question for you guys about Nightgrass and the kids! Have you ever brought your kids to a Nightgrass show at the Sheridan Opera House? My husband and I are thinking about bringing them to see the Punch Bros, but I wanted to get some other opinions first. Would the environment be too adult? :huh Our kids are 5 and will be 18 months old. Any thoughts?
That depends Laura, if you get a seat and the kids are up late night anyway, than it’s doable… however I have picked up a few folks from the floor (drunk and pass out standing up)at nightgrass and the standing room only(where the kids are likely to be trampled to death by drunks)I feel would be way off the charts uncool… but that’s just me maybe…
:medalGood choice mom, next year buy yer babysitter a ticket to fest and treat her to some fun, then late nights are easy for you or trade nightgrass nights with another couple with kids. They go on sat. nightgrass and you babysit then next night it’s your turn… something like that… :cheers
Earplugs are free for kids at the med. tent. Please use them.
:hug :vibes do not resist the waves :vibes :giggle
Definitely not Town Park camping… My experience there was not the best…lots of weird, creepy guys hitting on the wife, drunks, etc… The friendliness of the crowd is overrated in my humble opinion…Well maybe on 2nd thought friendliness is not the word… They didnt seem to have any respect for boundaries that most civilized humans recognize innately…
IMHO I too agree May not be the best place for youngin,s although we have watch the Green’s Kids grow up there
and now they are coming as young Adults , would I bring my 3 year old grand son …Hell NO !!!
Guys Town Park is an Adult Playground …unless your a open minded parent , your kids will see hear and smell things that maybe in my humble opinion, you wouldnt want em to be part of, unless your willing to open up a a talk about what us Dummy Adults do . Still my Faith is in the Town Park Campers , we try and police ourselves , but yes Drunks are all over the place …LOL
eating drinking and making Merry
Awesome! My son will be 18 mos also! Very excited to know there will be others his age.
I wanted to ask you guys - Which musical acts are your kids excited to see??
My kids are probably most excited for Chris Thile (well, Punch Bros) and Jenny Lewis (I’ve been playing her new albums nonstop.)
