Just curious as to what everyone does for the tarp runs. Do you personally sit in line all night, or do you hire someone to do that? Do you take turns with others in your camp? Get up real early in the morning and get in the line? Or do you pay a fee and “rent” someone’s tarp so you can sleep in, then leisurely wander down to the fest grounds.
Guess which one I’d rather do. :lol Although I’ve never done that. We’re a get up early and get in line, but we’ve never gotten up close and personal to the stage.
Got any tips?
We do not need the very front- we just need a space on the side to set up our EZ-up… So, I normally get in line early in the morning. Then, I get teen age son to run these days to get to the space we need.
my $.02 - Teamwork!! :thumbsup
Have a member of your camp sleep (i mean ‘sit’…'cus there’s no sleeping in tarp line… :festival) in line over night. bring a nice big folding chair, sleeping bag, and whatever other essentials you’ll need to make it through the night. It even helps to do this in shifts - I recommend the early morning shift…it’s totally worth it for Ms. Courtness’s delicious baked goods!! :cake
Then you can get someone “fresh”…or at least someone who didn’t ‘sit’ in tarp line all night and have them do the running of the tarp. Where you go from there is all up to personal preference…are you going for view, sound, shade, proximity to the flank steak, etc…
Then there’s tarp folding/rolling strategy…but that’s a whole 'nother animal. :lol
:cheers
Last year we slept, uh, sat in line, and we had a fellow campmate relieve us about 4 in the morning. We had ice on our sleeping bag. And the last time I ran the tarp in (which is folded just so
), I pulled a hammie. Bwhahahaha! So much for experiencing the moment. This year, it’s just me, my boyfriend and my daughter, so it’s up to us. To tell you the truth, I’m there for the pre-fest. I can see all these performers throughout the year, here in Denver. But I so love Telluride. I go for the hikes and the TP pickin’ and grinnin’. Once the festival starts, It’s less relaxing. I like to get close, so I can see the performers, and we do. We’re right beside the sound booth, so that’s not bad. But festivating is a lot of work! :lol
Debbie: Yes, teenage sons come in handy, don’t they? :thumbsup
well, Lisa - Not as much as you would think…LOL
Matthew has some special challenges so he is not the best runner but he gives it his all…
Awwww. Well, good for him!!! :thumbsup
