Tarp etiquette

Could someone explain the tarp run for a newbie fest virgin first poster just decided to go to the fest yesterday type person? :huh

You Tube ‘Telluride Tarp Run’ and you’ll have your pick of videos to choose from.

As was inferred, the tarps are lined up one against the other, but there are wide walkways (well, width depends on who’s playin and who’s dancin’ in the aisles). There is a walkway on each side of the festival grounds, one along the back (allowing easy access to vendors and beer booth … did I say beer booth (and flank steak, and sweet potato fries, etc. )) There is also a walkway right down the center (back to front) for easy access to all tarpage, as well as a walkway between the ‘no high back chairs’ and ‘high backs allowed’ areas of the grounds. That walkway is about 1/3rd of the way back from the stage and runs from one side of the venue to the other. SO, bottom line, there is plenty of access to different areas of the venue. Half the fun of the festival is watching all the festivating folks traversing here and there during the fest.

Hope that made things clear as mud

Is there a “bollocks to all this chair and tarp ettiquette we just wanna watch the bands” area ?

:huh :huh :huh

OK let’s see, the tarp line forms very early, so if you want to get up close you will need to be there early. Than at a random morning time a PBG staffer will hand out numbers 1-300 I think it is. When the gates open for tarp run they will let people go in in small groups, lets say the first 50, than the next group of 50 and so on.
Wear running shoes, only take a tarp and chair, set up than return later with the rest of your gear…
If you have kids BE CAREFUL NOT TO SET UP IN FRONT OF A SPEAKER… :medal Hope this helps …

Let me add that tarp run is only for those who want up close…if this is not important than just stroll in at a later time find a spot and call it tarp home. But don’t stroll in too late or there could possibly be no room for your tarp…

If you are going solo just scrap the tarp grab yer lawn chair and hit it… when you see an empty tarp go sit on it and when the owner returns wait to be invited to stay or move along… That’s what I do. I’m finally starting to get it…
PBG rule, if there is an empty tarp you may fill it till the owners retun. It really makes it simple for singles…
:cheers See you in June :medal
