T.P. Egg's Benedict Breakfast

Travelling west is relatively easy. You’ll be ready to passout by 6 in the evening, so take that into consideration getting into TP. On the plus side, you’ll be wide awake by 5am. You can sleep more to adjust to time, which will also help w/ getting used to the altitude.

The tough part is travelling East, especially when combined with after-festival withdrawls. :frowning:

Hippie Jerry suggested a “progressive breakfast”. That’s a very good idea. Maybe 2 or 3 camps involved.
Run-A-Muck always has coffee on for folks who want to hang-out at our camp and watch the tarp-run each morning of the festival. If other camps or other people want to use the Run-A-Muck kitchen to cook breakfast for the festivarians who view the “running of the tarps” from our campsite, you’d be more than welcome. Every morning of the festival there’s always a lot of folks visiting our camp… why not cook them eggs benny?

Kaptain Karlos :cheers

P.S. Ron - you know you can’t make it to every party in Town Park… but I know you’re gonna try! :rock

Thanks for the advice AnythingAtAll, it’s more or less my plan to stay awake during my flight over, and then crash out in GJ on the sunday night and sleep as much as possible to wear off the jet lag before I get to TBF, but as I’ve never experienced jet lag before I don’t know how I’ll take it…

And Ron, I’m sorry you got overruled on that one :rolleyes , but I’m sure there’ll be plenty of other activities you can take part in, I can even make a special pastry for you and Deb for when you get back if you like…

Hey Lala, has it been decided where you are doing the pastries? I would need to know where I am delivering the few pieces of equipment and spices to.
Love your idea of a Ron n Deb anniversary pastry!

:wave Good morning Useless…

Do ou guys deal with organic vanilla extract or beans?

:peace

Good morning Hippie, that is a question for Jo (Kim). I’ll have her respond soon. I’m the cooking equipment guy.

No sir…

General info. Most spices (not herbs), including vanilla beans (Madagascar) come from equatorial countries…mostly 3rd world places. Although I’m sure there is a market out there, most of those growers are just concerned about growing a healthy crop, getting it to market and turning a buck. Herbs can be grown in temperate climates, ie; grown in the good ol US of A where the farmers may be more inclined to take the time, and investment to produce an organic product. If someone is touting that their vanilla is organic, I would be very suspicious as even in Mexico, they don’t have an organization overseeing the production and labeling processes like we do here.

Capiche?

Totally Capiche friend.
I am a reformed backyard organic gardener. Had a market garden with 1/4 acre of non psychadelic herbs and veggies in the early 80s. It was really hard to market since we were all doing the same thing back in those days.

I now only grow a few crops that are completely suited to my microclimate, strictly for personal consumption only.

I’m still looking for organic vanilla beans/extract     :hop

How many more days was that again?

:peace

Thought we were adding a mast feed breakfast to the Town Park early campers. I was going to go “easy and quick”, but if it all needs to be organic, I’m okay with that and will make the menu adjustments. Just let me know where we all, Muck and WI, want to that this. Great idea, Let’s get on the same sheet music and go forward. I know I’m not going to be running and tossing a tarp on Wednesday! Muck does way too much, so maybWander-In on the main path is the place for a buffet breakfast?
Carolyn, Tom, Hippie, Carlos, Stevie (no…scratch that one!), Ellen, Evil James…How do we want to make this happen, and like we have do this for TP for years?!
Should be fun, and I think a great addition to the prefest activities. I know, with all the excitement of the TBF, there are alot of folks that will love, and need. a good breakfast after Tuesday night!
Thoughts? Them’s mine! :huh :wave :thumbsup :huh :thumbsup :wave

Brother Rob
Im the Only “Mad Foodie”
In WanderIn … so its you and me
and Im Up for the Challendge !
Im Bringing the Kitchen from Hell … so lets do this !
The rest of the Krew thinks this is Vacation …cough
Im Sure that Rick will help out …
:cheers
Thanks for stepping Up

Like I wrote in an earlier message… Camp Run-A-Muck always has coffee and water on for tea early in the morning. We have a great spot to watch the tarp-run (and the festival) from. Along with Telluride Tom, we set-up a lot of shade canopies and encourage festivarians to come over and enjoy the festival from this community oriented free-space. We call it “The Town Hall” and everybody’s welcome to come and enjoy it. It’s a great spot to hang-out and beat the afternoon heat or enjoy the last couple acts of the day. Bring a chair and an icy-cool beverage and hang-out for a while!

I’d be more than happy to help-out with the eggs-benny breakfast. Ingredients don’t have to be organic, but a lot of us prefer it that way… but hey… it’s a festival… you’re playing with others now… you gotta lighten-up a bit… right? Wander-In or Jail House makes the most sense for the benny-breakfast on wednesday (?) because of their central location in Town Park. I’ll come over, and I’ll cook! I’m bringing my bike, so store runs will be quick and easy, too… later dudes…

Karlos :cheers

because of their central location in Town Park. I’ll come over, and I’ll cook! I’m

This works best for us as well since I thought I was serving Bloody’s at the same time!!!

I’m sure we can get Gerry to brew some coffee to go with as well.

I’m a Hollondaise makin’ friggin’ machine! How about adding a bit of roasted red pepper to that mix? Fresh Rosemary?

Oh man you Guys are really Killing me
So how Early are you guys wanting to do This ??
The Bus leaves for Orvis around 10 am
so we NEED a Clean up Crew!
I know I would Love a Good Hearty Breakfest in stead of Subway in Ridge way
So 8 am ?..9 am ?
and this to take place after Tropicail Tuesday?
OMG
we are Freaking Nuts !!!

Looks like Telluride Tom has Pastries, Eggs Benedict, and Bloody Marys scheduled for Wednesday morning. Trust me… you’ll need all this after Tuesday evening’s Tropical Tuesday blow-out! Getting our butts out of bed, firing-up the stoves, and getting the bacon frying will be challenging… but not impossible. Maybe it’ll be a good morning for a “Wake n’ Bake” :pipe … or better yet… “Magic Mochas” :vibes woo-hoo! Looks like The Jailhouse Boys’ camp is the best location for this party because of Wander-In’s soaking and wedding vows plans. Ron - leave the cleaning-up to Hope ;). It won’t be that bad. Plus, clean-up will be easy with the bathhouse wash-basin and water-tap just around the corner.

Consider pushing the bus departure to Orvis to 11:00am if possible. That way you won’t be rushed.

Kaptain Karlos :cheers

Wedding? Thought we just did one last year.
At any rate, Useless, if you want to do the Hollindaise from scratch, be my guest. Looking at feeding the masses, I was going to and some spices to Knorr. Not bad for a quick fix, but if you and Lala want to do the sauce and pastries, I’m a happy camper! :thumbsup I’m an early morning person, so getting the bacon and all going is not a problem. Just trying to figure out a smooth flow for the buffet and keeping thing warm. Also, how to poach alot of eggs quickly and keep them fresh and warm. I have a great chef at my facility and will get his imput on making this happen smoothly and professionally. Will pick up or borrow some chaffing dishes to keep things warm. Figure we should be able to start serving around 9:30 am.
Just hope, if we all go to this trouble, we will have a great turn out. If we can get the ones that break the fun barrier the night prior to arise, it will be good. The bacon woaffing should help a little. Know the old vets will not miss it. Especially if it is on the Mayor’s schedule. How about a little asparagus to go with the benedicts? Presentation! Presentation! Sorry, but may have to go a “little” ungreen for this one, as far as, plates and utinsels…ideas! :frowning: Jailhouse is “Old and in the Way”, but getting better at not leaving as much of a footprint. We’re all on vacation, just want to make providing the activity for all in TP as easy as we can for us that put it on.
My thoughts…got mine!..Give me yours! :huh :cheers :lol :cheers :lol
FFEEESSSSSTTTIIIVVVAAALLLL! :hop :hop :hop :hop :hop

Everyone should provide (and clean) their own plate and utensils. :flower
The cooks will have enough to worry about. :eek
Let’s keep it GREEN! :medal

Oh and PS we WAS gonna RENEW our Vows at Orvis but I guess I have to come up with Plan B
Damn yall make this Hard !
:flower :cheers :flower

Thank you for the vote of confidence Kaptain Karlos. :thumbsup

I would ask that Run A Muck please bring the hot water pot for tea that morning (I’m not a coffee gal) and I’ll scramble my own eggs somewhere in that mix. You folks just cook, have fun and then get the hell out of the way for clean-up.

For those comin’ 'round to eat, PLEASE bring your own gear. In years past I have washed your gear before you left the area. It’s really not a problem and I think it’s a good thing if you’re going to hang for a while, that way we don’t have a lot of dirty dishes drawing bugs into any particular camp.

For what it’s worth, I really like the way this event has come together, well, the planning of the event at least. It’s just the best when I can sign onto the forum and see newbies and the old guard are just plain and simple about community. You folks are The Best. :medal

Can Wait to See/Meet All of You!
Auntie Hope :festivarian2 :green

In my humble opinion, this thread is the essence of what I had hoped this forum to be for all of you/ the community.

sure, we use it to get the word out to you guys, get feedback, etc…but bringing newbies and veteran campers together BEFORE they have even met face to face to feed the collective masses is just plain freakin’ awesome.

…just sayin’.

:cheers
