According to their website http://www.mumfordandsons.com/, it appears that Mumford will be playing on Sunday again. It also appears that Sarah Mclachlan and Steve Earle will be playing Sunday. That is, if Brian and Ferg are to be trusted in their hints/announcements (and they’ve never given us reason to doubt them in the past. Add in the House Band and this i adding up to be a great day at FEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVVVVVVVVVVVAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!
Nice sniffin around, HS. They definitely implied the House Band would be headlining after Sarah McLachlan somewhere on these boards, though it’d take me a minute to find.
I’m pulling for either Edgar solo or Patty Griffin as the Sunday “gospel” set.
I’d also love to see more Buddy Miller than his supporting role in Band of Joy; he’s one of my favorite songwriters and could do a hell of a gospel set if his album Universal United House of Prayer has anything to say about it. Plus, he has a new record out in March.
I’m thinking that Robert Plant will be closing out Thursday night (pure speculation as I have no evidence to back this up). If they stay for the whole festival, I wouldn’t be surprised to have Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin doing a workshop together. I’m hoping for a larger role for Darrell Scott. I’d love to see him open the festival again or do another song-writing workshop at the very least.
Don’t want you guys to get carried away, SO: Mumford/Plant on Sunday and Houseband/Sarah/Steve Earle on Thursday.
Fun watching Grammy’s last night. Brian and I tried and tried to get Janelle Monet at Telluride. How fun would that be. Shauna even caught us sneaking into her office to try and send a letter out from her email.
We do have 95% of the artists locked in and, we’re now trying to figure out when everyone CAN and SHOULD play, but our single day lineups should be out sooner than usual.
what a way to start and continue (don’t want to say ‘end’ ) the weekend! :woohoo
i’m gonna go ahead and throw another plug in for a stringduster’s nightgrass, any night, any venue :talk
I guess I got a little a head of myself. I forgot the age old rule about assumption. You look like an ass and the ump will tion (shun) you. Thanks for the info, Ferg!
They played on Thursday in 2006 and 2007 (I made sure to check this time. Thanks Telluride Tom for having those programs on your website). I didn’t start going till 2008, so I’m interested to see if this puts a different vibe on their show.
Well… both the 2006 and 2007 shows were not 2 hours, so they had a different vibe for sure. Hopefully with a full 2 hours (I assume they are getting a full 2 hours), it will be like the last 3 years.
I think Robert Plant will be a great way to end the FESTIVAL!!!
I’ve been thinking about that ever since I heard Raising Sand and thought that Robert Plant would be a brilliant addition to TBF. If nothing else, Sam could still join Band of Joy on stage for Whole Lotta Love.
According to the Punch Brothers website, they’re at 2PM on Thursday. So now we have Punch Brothers, Steve Earle, Sarah McLachlan, and House Band on Thursday…
The Flecktones website shows them playing Friday, so I’m guessing they’ll be headlining that night. Cornmeal’s website seems to also indicate they’ll be playing on Friday, but I may have read too much into the way it was presented.
Some additional sleuthing would lead me to believe Nora Jane Struthers and Old Crow Medicine Show are playing on Saturday.
I’m thinking that The Decemberists and RRE will both get late night slots. My current assumption is that RRE will be playing Friday night in LoS’s semi-traditional slot.
I love seeing the House Band close the fest, and that’s been a fairly recent thing, at least in the dozen years or so I’ve been going regularly. They had headlined on Thursday a few years in a row and that’s always great too! And if it means Plant closes the fest, who can complain! You know Sam will still be around.
I’m guessing, hoping, the Flecktones will be in their traditional Friday headlining spot.
I’m guessing Nora Jane will open Saturday–seems like the previous year’s band contest winner often gets their set to open Saturday the following year.
It’s all shaping up again to be the best four days on the Planet!!!
(Some year Ferg needs to bring Great Big Sea; they’d sound amazing at the fest).
While I also like seeing the house band close the fest, having them scheduled on Thursday leaves open a greater possibility of Rowan sitting in (would like to see him play whole set) … which was a treat last year, was surprise he hung around!
