Solar Panel Destruction Rant

RANT ON

To the folks who knowingly destroyed my solar panel in the onsite campground during landrush on Thursday: my neighbors saw you, in the white van, they actually pointed out where you were camped. I thought that surely you would come and own up. I guess you thought that you would just ignore it. Sadly, your festy karma just dropped…

RANT OFF

I can’t believe they didn’t own up to the mishap either. You are right that their festi-karma will catch up with them.

So sorry about that, bud. :flower

I heard a few stories and witnessed a few things this year that seemed really out of place. :huh Full moon?

Sorry to hear about your solar panel Wander. I’ll have to say though that that is a pretty mild rant and you showed some serious restraint in not confronting them at the festival.

I am glad that I did not see it happen, cuz my Irish hothead might’ve paid a visit, but accidents happen (thats why we call em accidents) and my karma is positive. I just wanted to shed the negative vibes, and move on…

I saw the damage and thought it must have been the glow in the dark bocce balls.

Bummer!

The bocce ball players were worried the next day that it was their fault also, but I assured them it had happened before their game. I was camped nearby and heard the crunch of the panel being hit during land rush. I had assumed it was one of those little cheap solar lights being smashed but unfortunately it was something wayyy more expensive. Very sad. I did not see the car involved though.

As an organizing member of the festival bocce ball team, we were extremely worried that we’d committed the deed and discussed how we could make it right (there were easily 25+ players).

Thanks to Hooch for setting us straight, that was a relief to us. We didn’t bring the balls back out for that exact reason, and will be trying to find a better venue next year.

For the white van who didn’t come clean - SHAME ON YOU!!!

The bocce ballers were suspects, but my neighbor noted that he witnessed the accident (it did appear to be an accident, and the driver did seem to notice what happened, which is why I expected a visit). I priced a replacement panel and can get one on ebay for ~$90.00. I chalk it up to experience.

as an aside…Perhaps the bocce ballers might be better in the tarp line… or better yet, in the backstage camping area…

Yah, playing down the road was a last minute decision that made it quite fun, albeit dangerous to people and gear. We are already discussing options for next year - to protect the innocent. Possible places actually include the park across from Oskar Blues, but we’ll have to clear it with the pokey. :thumbsup
