Hey All,
It makes me sad to write this, but I was recently scammed out of four Rocky Grass Sunday tickets. I’m sharing because I don’t want others to be scammed by the same person. I was contacted by a Joseph Latson and had a great back and forth over email for several days before I transferred money to his fiance and a friend of hers, who are apparently working at the festival grounds. He was totally responsive until the money was transferred. I haven’t heard from him in 9 days, despite emailing him many times. I even tried to email the two people I sent the money to (his fiance and friend). Neither of them have responded either.
This was going to be my first year at Rocky Grass with my husband, two year old daughter, and a couple of friends. I’ve heard for many years from my cousin about what an amazing festival Rocky Grass is and how wonderful the people are. I probably put too much trust into this person and should’ve found a better way to make sure the sale was legit. But hopefully I can now at least save others from the same fate.
Good luck out there!
Barbara
So sorry to hear this! I’ve bought/sold tickets through the forum for years without a problem, but I’m sure it happens occasionally. The fact that the Planet sells tickets (and it’s a quick sellout) roughly six months before the festivals insures there will be many people needing/wanting to buy or sell tickets because they aren’t able to plan that far in advance. I wish some better solution than “trust your fellow festivarians” could be found. The Cash or Trade website can be a solution, but entails a fee. The fee is much more reasonable than the sometimes steep markup from the ticket resale racket of StubHub, etal.

I also was nearly scammed. Someone got my phone number off this website and was texting. Luckily I googled the phone number and was a scammer!! Be careful folks!

BabsFerro, that really sucks, and is not in the Festivarian spirit. Please have someone set up a GoFundMe page, and you can easily get your money back!
I sort of got scammed a few years ago. My queue number was too high and was not able to get a Saturday ticket so bought one on StubHub. I was warned on this forum but really wanted to see Del McCoury. Never got my ticket or to see Del that year but got my money back. Will not go into detail but the seller was scamming StubHub more than me.
I’m sorry that happened to you, if misery loves company you have some… we got scammed a few years ago… we’ve found the only way to thin that herd is once you make contact ask them to respond to your cashortrade.org post looking to buy tickets… if they bawk at going to that incredibly safe ticket exchange site to finish the transaction, odds are they are ‘prince of nigeria’ scammers…and again I’m sorry you got ripped off
