Rolling Stone article about Mumford and Sons in Telluride

Read the article in Rollling Stone and put what you think about it here. I was not too thrilled that they did this piece.

Here is the link to photos and some of the article. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rollingstone.com%2Fmusic%2Fphotos%2Fexclusive-photos-mumford-sons-take-america-20110727&h=RAQDjtgJx

Rolling Stone sucks. Their music writing/reviews are crap. Only thing decent about the magazine at all anymore is Matt Taibi.

That article reminds me of “Almost Famous.” All the crap Phillip Seymor Hoffman tells the kid to feed to the magazine is in there. Sensationalist pop drama; ughh. It really did come off as sort of patronizing toward the town and the fest, with Mumford gracing the stage simply because of an obsession with the quaintness of it. I knew they were rich kids, but hedge funds and evangelical church founders? TMI…

Ah well, it’s RS; what do u expect? There were a couple interesting bits, like the religious background. Lets just hope they can hold up to the attention, because right now, that deer in the headlights/model dating routine looks like it could bury them sooner then later. They may not be the best musicians yet, but they have a pretty rad sound sound I’d like to see progress.

Hipster Grass.

Thanks for the link to the article. I think they’re very good, but nothing mind blowing (been holding off until after the festival to say this, not looking to rain on anyone’s parade).

Looks like this photo is in Ophir, but can’t say for sure exactly where?!?

The one below looks to be on the way to Alta Lakes near the ghost town:

Love the pictures! They’re having fun, we’re having fun, it’s all good! Certainly not the best band I’ve ever heard, but I really like their sound, and songs. Seen 7 Mumford shows so far, and the two (2010+2011) NG @ the SOH were the finest of both years. It’s fun to watch the meteoric rise of a string band! :thumbsup

:cheers :cheers :cheers

I actually think they are quite good at what they do. I have seen the same show twice (Ogden in Denver and TBF 2011) I just don’t think you can have arenas (potentially) with screaming 13 year old girls and doing cover and jamming with other bands as is the tradition in Telluride.

This article lost all credibility in one of the first few paragraphs when the author writes:

It was a warm June night in Telluride

Ha Ha HA HA HA. WTF.

I just started reading it. I don’t know where they were but I was cold every night.
I have to continue reading now.

Tyler

It was sort of warmish…as far as snowy nights go…

:thumbsup Agreed, good one! Still like the pics of the SOH, tho. I’ve never had my picture in RS before that I know of…lol.

It was very cold. It was very wet. They are good, and enjoyable… but not good enough to stay and freeze to death just because they were on stage. 6 tunes, at best, and I was back at camp in front of a very large heater… and could hear everything just fine and in a very (heart) warming way. :thumbsup

Thanks for posting this link. I loved the pictures… especially those WITH SNOW IN THE BACKGROUND. (warm summer night my A**!!!) :lol

" I just feel like, not only do we not deserve to be here, but we’re not good enough to be here"

Uh, yep. Not a fan. At all. Don’t see what the fuss is about.

on another note, this is the first RS thast I’ve read in 10 years. Looks like I won’t be reading another one for a REALLY long time.
