Roadtrippppppp!!!

Argh!!! Why do fat people always steal my ideas??? I’m writing a letter of complaint to my congressman!

tasty, yet deadly

good plan hooch.

okay for a more road trip-y question. i’m not sure i want to drive the same route back home. i am planning on going to moab/arches right after tride so i was thinking maybe going down to santa fe/taos and heading back across tx. thoughts? i’m not on much of a time schedule…

A little more west of Moab is an area called The San Rafael Swell which is quite awesome. Goblin Valley is there along with things like slot canyons and such. If you keep heading south from there you’ll get to Lake Powell then wind up in NM or AZ depending on which way you go and what you want to see. Canyonlands is cool to see also. If you have a Jeep or high-clearance vehicle you can see more than with a car in both areas.

My wagon train will be heading towards Moab as well after Telluride! We are coming in from St. Louis so it will be such a great feeling not heading east right after we leave Telluride. We plan on camping around Moab for awhile then heading to Jackson Hole and the Tetons. We will most likely stay at Arches for a night and I heard about some great campsites by the Colorado river outside of Moab we might stay depending on how the rest of the group feels. What are you plans ?

be sure to check out Devils Tower and the Black Hills area of SD if heading back to St. Louis…that’s can’t miss! Also, if heading out via 70 check out Black Canyon @ Gunnison (get to the bottom if you have an extra day)!!!

We are heading out from NC via ATL, Memphis, OK-City, Sante Fe and back via St. Louie! Can’t wait, leaving two weeks from yesterday!!! I am ready to start packing now!!!

The Black Canyon is on highway 50, not 70. :wave
It’s 15 minutes or so east of Montrose. :flower

I’m also hitting Moab right after TBF on Monday.

Yes, camping along the Colorado River is the way to go and there are numerous campgrounds that are a short drive to Arches.

Get a picture up so we can recognize you! :thumbsup

Billy!! Where the hell are you camping/staying this year???

billy-any particular campground you recommend along that way?

Lbvgirl, check out this link: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Campgrounds – Discover Moab, Utah

The campgrounds are along 128 and I think the ones numbered 1-7 are the prime sites (plus being a little closer to Arches). It makes sense to drive in to each, and check them out before setting up shop because of those seven sites there were definitely two, I recall, which had sites very close to the river and had better canyon views.

(I don’t think it was site #2 b/c I would definitely remember that!)

Hooch, I’m camping with Dave and Doug (and I’m sure others). Dave and I should be getting in early afternoon on the 12th.

:wave :thumbsup Roadtrips Rock!! We’re just coming from Littleton, CO- so we’ll miss the long roadtrip this time, but it’s all good. You guys all be careful and enjoy yourselves. There’s no place like Colorado mountains!!!
Hey slacker is great- to the guy that was bui :cheers :medallding a station. We’ve been listening to our Telluride station for months
